Can't really fault our defenders or forwards, it's obvious it's the personnel in the middle that are the problem. Hopefully we are on the way to addressing that with the addition of Devitt and Cooke, but reverting back to starting with Akpan yesterday was a backwards step imo.

We know that by watching the game last Saturday and again this afternoon. When Scannell came on and we played 2 front this afternoon, our game improved massively. We carried much more of a threat. Up until that point as 433 we looked ineffective, predictable and about as threatening as sponge.

 

Bowyers quite pee'd off about this one. He came on here to see what he could find out about Hanson before the game. The overwhelming opinion was that he was a carthorse that wasn't good enough with an appalling goal ratio and a 50p head. He thought it was quite safe to leave him at corners. Needless to say he's not really interested on any other advice offered on here.

 

No, the fans clearly won't have patience for a rebuild, they aren't interested anymore.

Sadly looks like many would prefer to kick the can down the road by making another pointless appointment - just like the previous five.

What we know and Bowyer appears not to yet is that he cannot fool the vast majority of supporters with poor football, He needs to up his own game as well as sorting his formation and side out that at the moment are poor.

 

Well if we are judging Bradford City and not Blackpool. Then , yes, the evidence is there to suggest 4 4 2 is better than 4 3 3. I am pretty sure we gained promotion to the top flight and two Wembley finals with that formation.

 

It's not about the formation. It's about the players and matching a system to the players to get the best of out of them.

 

That leaving James Hanson unmarked at a corner may result in a headed goal

 

GB cannot be stupid enough to pick a formation that doesn't suit the players that we have. We don't have a reserve striker for starters so if one gets injured there has to be a change of formation. The midfield is nowhere near good enough to get promoted.
There must be a logical reason for it. My bet would be that reinforcements are on the way by the end of August. Probably 1 perm and 2 loan I would guess. He wants to get the team used to playing his preferred formation. He maybe feels it better to do this than swap to 442 for a couple of games and then revert back.
I can see Scanell leaving as he is unlikely to get many starts in a 433. Just my thoughts but surely there is something in the pipeline that us fans don't know as it's obvious to all of us that the players we currently have don't suit his preferred 433. In a couple of weeks things may be a lot different to now. It would be a bonus to get shot of a couple more players like Doyle, Akpan etc but unlikely at this point.

 

Yes that’s all we will hear when he comes under pressure. His formations and selections though are dreadful even with what he’s got.

 

If he is going to persist with 433 why did he release Clarke in the summer not saying he was the answer but Doyle is shocking but worse thing is he and Anderson will start Saturday.
