GB cannot be stupid enough to pick a formation that doesn't suit the players that we have. We don't have a reserve striker for starters so if one gets injured there has to be a change of formation. The midfield is nowhere near good enough to get promoted.
There must be a logical reason for it. My bet would be that reinforcements are on the way by the end of August. Probably 1 perm and 2 loan I would guess. He wants to get the team used to playing his preferred formation. He maybe feels it better to do this than swap to 442 for a couple of games and then revert back.
I can see Scanell leaving as he is unlikely to get many starts in a 433. Just my thoughts but surely there is something in the pipeline that us fans don't know as it's obvious to all of us that the players we currently have don't suit his preferred 433. In a couple of weeks things may be a lot different to now. It would be a bonus to get shot of a couple more players like Doyle, Akpan etc but unlikely at this point.

Not sure I agree with you there Lord. In any event though, either 433 or a diamond we're splitting hairs. The formation with Doyle at the tip or behind the front two hasnt worked. We looked more effective when Scannell came on and both he and Gibson played out wide. They created more and the full backs overlapped.

It's got to be. Unless he really does think Akpan can be consistently good in this league and Reeves will come back and be as good as when he first joined and Shay will be a player?
Big doubts on at least 2 of those for me. Look at the bench yesterday. I know it's league 2 but not enough options and quality on there for me never mind the 1st 11.
Let's hope there is some positive news coming!!! In an ideal world out of the 7 subs you need 1xGk 2xDef 2xMF and 2xFW and at least 1 of each of them positions should be able to come on and make a difference. The rest can be squad fillers. I really do believe we will get a couple of loans imminently.
