4-4-2 with a winger on one side and Wood on the other. Result 3-0 and completely bossed it.

    Who’d a thunked it.....!

You do know he finished 7th over the season and then entered a knockout competition (play-offs) to get promotion????

Unbeaten with 1 goal conceded in the league. Top 7 in league, strikers scoring goals, 2 clean sheets from 3 games.

Heaven forbid what this forum will be like if we have a sticky patch.

Well, before the game many were pleading for 4-4-2. Bowyer seemed set on 4-3-3. I hope he now knows which suits us best.

Here's another. We know that 4-3-3 doesn't work with the players we've got. How many more times does it have to fail before GB also realises this? Will he ever? He's making himself look completely brainless and stubborn. Really depressed after today. We created next to nothing against a very poor side.

The problem we have is that 4-4-2 hasn't worked either. 2 lucky wins seems to be clouding the judgement of our fans.

If we played today how we did in the first half vs Oldham, Forest Green would have probably gone Into the break 2 or 3 nil up.

We've played a number of formations this season but have still been below par in all of our games. Surely then the blame lies with the players as opposed to the tactics?

It's the manager's job to get the team to play. Having two players like Vaughan and Donaldson and using them like we did today was criminal.

Can't really fault our defenders or forwards, it's obvious it's the personnel in the middle that are the problem. Hopefully we are on the way to addressing that with the addition of Devitt and Cooke, but reverting back to starting with Akpan yesterday was a backwards step imo.

Akpan offers feck all, as does Scannell.
Yet to see Scannell beat his man and put in a decent ball, yeah he scored v Oldham but, they were that shite I could have scored.
2 large wages spunked on those two is criminal.

Yes I understand that, but he has just brought in two creative midfielders and he leaves them sitting on the bench and players the same three that didn’t work every time he plays 433 or diamond. That systems requires creativity in midfield as you have no wingers to get the ball up there. I nearly cried with frustration when I saw the team sheet.

The 442 formation hasn't clouded my opinion, you are right our wins have been lucky, so the question is do we play 443 end up with draws or loses, or go for 442 and keep our fingers crossed? The answer is neither. How about this one, we play our best players in their best positions, if that is 442 then so be it. If he wants to play 443, great go get players who can play in that formation. Our strikers were thoroughly exhausted yesterday, whilst that lazy lump spent 90 minutes on a football field trying to work out what he was supposed to do. He put one pass into Vaughan, and that is all I saw him do.

If the Money has run out and I understand if that is the case, but the powers that be must no that we will be spending more that one season down here! Don’t do half a job! We now have two midfielders who might makes the difference, they looked ok yesterday so we will see. I still think we need a pacy winger, and striker. I would rather see AOC in midfield in order to allow the midfield to operate, bring Paudie back into the back line. That would allow us to change formation during the match if it wasn’t working.

Yet again, when the team was announced people in the pub were bemused and some annoyed. On this forum and others people wrote, before the game, that they couldn't understand why we going with this again. Many said it wouldn't work and, surprise surprise, it didn't. Why GB persists with it I've absolutely no idea but it's purgatory watching it fail time and again.

I was in the Wireless Pub on North Parade. We just sat and looked at each other, we had no idea why he would go with that yet again! GB is living on a knife edge here, he is showing a level of stubbornness that is beginning to look like complete inflexibility. Why Akpan??? He can’t or won’t do what he wants!! Palmer worked his socks off yesterday, but he is the one that gets hooked, why? The whole of the midfield looked like flaying fish out of water yesterday.

    Swings and roundabouts.

Play 4-3-3 and Vaughan and Donaldson are the ones to suffer.

Switch to 4-4-2 and it's the midfield that will struggle as none of them are good enough to play as part of a 2. This happened in the first half vs Oldham which was the worst we've played all season.

NO formation to date has worked so it's pointless blaming it on one.

Unfortunately for us Bowyer's recruitment leaves a lot to be desired for as there are major holes in whatever system he opts, including the one that some think is the answer to all of our problems. Let's hope that Cooke and Devitt address these holes or it's going to be a long old season.

I agree totally. I said just the same a couple of weeks ago. We haven't the players to play either 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 properly.

Absolutely spot on. It would helpful if GB knew what are his best players! He still needs to shop, we need a fast winger and a striker and A GARY JONES type of player.

What sort of player is Cooke? Is he a ball winner or a creator?
