After 14 years they will leave with the legacy of complete failure behind them. The bar is set very low for the new incumbents, the fact that all that Sunak, Mordaunt etc could do is try and somehow lay the blame for our predicament at an opposition that hasn't been in power for goodness knows long is becoming of such a shambles of an organisation. I think Labour also need to take a long hard look at themselves, how they have actually let this shower of shite be on power for so long a measure of just what a pathetic political mess they too have become.
The only hope for the short term is that Starmer can be allowed to get on with the task at hand without the petty squabbling that seems to have beset politics in this day and age. With such decisive characters like Farage and Galloway determined to keep Westminster divided for their own personal gain he's gonna have a tough job on when it comes to PMQs.

It's not about the Labour Party, it's about the PM of our country doing what comes as part of the job.

BTW the people who will be most bothered about this are his target voters.

Nobody cares what Sunak does now, he and his party are finished. He could take a massive dump outside 10 Downing Street and it wouldn't make his street cred any worse than it is already.

He could have done everyone a favour by just resignig but then we.would.have been denied the chance to see just how useless he is.

    Lying, it's in the blood.

Candidate claims he has moved to the area, gets owned.

So when a new ruling party is announced at the next general election, what do people want from the new incumbents? What as a public do we as individuals want them to.be able to say after their first five years in office?
I've been thinking about it from my own perspective, about what I think of the country as a whole, where it currently lies and what's important for the countries future. I'll be honest right I'm not sure, times have certainly changed since I was my lads current age.

Pump prime the economy by relaxing national debt repayment timetables and use the money to
    Improve the NHS
    Improve public services generally
Improve wages and quality of elderly care (which would reduce legal immigration)
Bring rail services back into public ownership as franchise contracts expire
Set up GB Energy to promote cleaner, cheaper energy technology and gradually replace fossil fuel reliance and jobs.
Renationalise utilities to reduce bills and river pollution (don’t think this will happen but it should do)

Too many other things that need fixing to list. Realistically, it will take years to bring many of them back to anything like 2010 levels.

Latest You Gov survey shows only one issue on which a majority of the electorate (narrowly) don’t think the Tories are doing a bad job - defence. And Sunak just trashed that in one afternoon.

That's a lot of things to cost money which are only balanced out by delaying debt (is it even possible?). Is it possible to balance those out?

I'm no expert but I'd have thought public spending would be built off the back of a strong economy?

Rishi Sunak is hiding somewhere at the moment so he can't do anything stupid again.

No matter, up step Richard Holden the Tory Chairman, Rishi hold my beer.

In theory but what in that list is going to grow a strong and competitive economy and how much growth would be needed to offset those costs?

I’m pretty sure this is just basically the initial pitch of every political party during election campaigns as far back as I can remember

To me, improving the NHS and the care system and public services etc always results in the additional money lining the pockets of those in charge, ultimately being rewarded further for their repetitive failures

    Nothing. ever. changes.

Oh I agree and there in lies the problem. When this country expanded rapidly in the 1800s off the back of the industrial revolution, that expansion was primarily paid for by the success of massive industry of which we were a world leader. That success period has long gone decades go. Industry is the only real way to grow your economy, in turn those jobs and businesses pay taxes, everything else is paid off the back of those industries. Without them there is no point investing in future infrastructure. Mining, steelworks, ship/aircraft building, investment in nuclear plant, you could name lots more. This then creates massive apprenticeship programmes, developing engineering and building for the next generation.
