I never said, and certainly didn’t mean, that all Reform supporters think they are representative of the way most people in this country think. Of course not. But there are certainly some on here who do because they never meet anyone who thinks differently from them.
Those same people think my moderately left of centre views make me some kind of alien extremist when, in fact, there are many people who share my views. There are also many who would consider me a feeble Blairite sell-out because I broadly support Starmer’s purge of the left to make Labour more electable.
The point I’m making is that the north is broadly more socially conservative than the south, and the concentration of support for Reform UK in the north totally supports this view.

For a party that likes to big itself up about defence it’s a massive own goal.
For a Prime Minister whose personal rating is already in the toilet it’s a cataclysmic error. It reinforces the view that he is completely out of touch with ordinary people and that his judgement is terrible.
It’s apparently gone down like a cup of cold sick with Tory activists, whose morale was already near rock bottom.
I think this will reverberate beyond floating voters. The only section of the electorate that shows majority support for the Tories is over 65s and they are the ones likely to be most outraged by Sunak’s snub to our WW2 heroes. I can see this changing votes amongst some Tory voters or prompting them to not bother voting.

He will be gone after the election.

Hopefully Penny Mordaunt to take over, be interesting to see how she fares against Farage and Rayner in tv's forum this evening

It's straight from the Gerald Ratner school of public relations. How can you trust your vote to someone who can do something so impressively stupid? Like leaving the trolley pusher in change of Morrison's yearly budget.

That assumes that Penny Mordaunt is still an MP after the election. She’s one of the Tory Big Beasts who is in danger of losing her seat.

Thanks to Sunak the new leader might be picked by drawing from a deck of cards.

I've meet you Steve, I don't judge people on their political views I've been a Labour voteer most of my life and quoted why I didn't recently posting my reasons on here.
I won't be voting Tory as they have let those who did believe they'd deliver down, I also wont be voting Labour, I watched the debate (if it can be called that) between Sunak and Starmer and neither IMO can be trusted, having wasted 90 minutes watching tonight I'm even more convinced neither party have the ability to get this country out of the crap they have got us in, on turning over to watch the England game it looks like I haven't missed anything with regards an decent England performance.

Oh, I didn't waste my time watching the debate on TV last night, but seeing clips of it on social media I don't think I've ever seen anyone with as much brass neck as Penny Mordaunt. Actually had the audacity to put the blame on Labour for 14 years of what has been an utter shitshow of their own doing. The Tories are finished as a credible party right now, I'm not sure how they can even rebuild, it's absolutely embarrassing.

2 slightly to the right on the panel up against 5 loony lefties making too much noise and mostly irrelevant, should have just been Farage, Rayner and Mordaunt ...

I'm no Farage fan, but the Welsh prick accusing him of going for a photoshoot when he goes every every year and raised money for charity around the event was a total disgrace. He couldn't even look at him to say it either, so pathetic and just about sums politics in Britain up at this moment, totally in the gutter. I can't stand how tribal it all is either, instead of wanting what's best for the country, that is a big reason why this country is in the shit. If the Welsh bloke had of said it to someone like Starmer the left would have been up in arms, when someone acts without class just say so regardless of who it's against.

I didn't think the bar could have been lowered but they've managed to lower to levels I didn't think possible. Now we have opportunist grifters like Galloway and Farage back on the scene, taking advantage of the Sher incompetence of the two main parties. If it meant the end of the toe main parties at least some good will have come out of it.

I didn’t think it was possible for me to detest hinchcliffe and her cronies any more, but seeing headlines like this just pushes my hatred of them to new levels. They have run our city into the ground while lining their own pockets. Totally let down their residents

I’m absolutely not making excuses for Sunak here, it’s a massive disgrace and immensely disrespectful. However, let’s have some fairness here. The critics (lefties) seem to have quickly forgotten the disgraceful conduct of their Shadow Equalities Minister who got so paralytic on expenses during a flight to Gibraltar, she had to disembark in a Wheelchair and missed the Armistice Day Service to honour troops. Absolute hypocrites, as usual

Not a lot to ask is it? Just keep the grass trim in time for the remembrance. Kinda sums up the whole country at the moment, no one in positions of power really gives a shit or take any responsibility.

That’s inexcusable behaviour, regardless of left, right or centre.
But, impact-wise, it doesn’t hold a candle to our actual Prime Minister making a deliberate choice to skip off early from the international D Day remembrance ceremonies, to pre-record a TV interview, while the US President and various European leaders stayed the course. He didn’t have the excuse that he was drunk, he just chose to do it. Madness.

@SteveC@SteveC makes a valid point here though, all we seem to see the major parties trying to point score all the time. As much as I hate Sunak with a passion, the world ain't gonna stop turning because Sunak leaves a service early. I'm not really that bothered, this sort of gaff goes on regularly in politics, I want to know what Starmer is gonna do when he gets in power now. Enough petty bickering, there's a country to rebuild.

Oh absolutely. In the scheme of things it really doesn’t matter. But in an election campaign it’s a PR disaster. And so inexplicable that those running the Tory campaign allowed it to happen.
