Was Steve Evans investigated by the police and prosecuted, or was it just the FA?

 

The circumstances of the alleged incident and alleged victim obviously aren’t public knowledge. The timeframe and approach may be entirely fair and reasonable.

Think you missed my point in there.

Firstly, I’ve not suggested holding multiple trials. I said (or meant), that if they have enough evidence to charge him for 1 offence, why should it matter if there were multiple claims. Once he’s charged, and prior to him going to a plea hearing and subsequently the trial. further charges can be made and added to the original case. This is done frequently.

Of course forensic examination of hard drives takes time. Just as it did when reviewing Adam Johnson’s social media activity. Still didn’t take them in excess of 5mths to know there was a case to answer.

Look, I’m not knowledgeable in the criminal goings on, or pretend I do like some on here. But I just think it wholly unfair on both the accused and accuser that it’s allowed to drag on.

 

Apparently it’s still ongoing. The CPS are still examining the file. They can’t make out if he was flashing or trying to smuggle a sausage for later

I don't think Evans was ever charged with a criminal offence, so that would explain that one.

And it may be. Or it be entirely fair, driven by the circumstances of the case and those involved.

 

Not rush but some take 12 months which is unfair

 

Seeing justice being done isn't the only objective of the legal business.

 

These type of cases generally take around 12-18 months before the defendant will appear for a first hearing. Then you’re talking 6-8 months from then a trial date is set if required. This will not be a quick process

 

So would you rather they were quicker or get it right?

 

It's not unfair at all.

They're not going to rush through the procedures, nor should they.

Yes high profile cases can breed different results, but Robinson isn't a high profile case, isn't in the public eye, and will be treated like any other criminal investigation.

This isn't an FA investigation, and it obviously isn't a cut-and-dry case.

The real question is, were we right to suspend him based off an allegation and an arrest on suspicion of a crime?

 

high profile cases police throw more resource at it. I have no issues with that as high profile means society wants justice quicker to feel safer as they are aware of it. Rest assured if Robinson was at a premier league club this would have being dealt with quicker. That’s not a negative on the justice system. Just how it works. However I feel uncomfortable discussing anything which is ongoing so let’s just stick to facts
