The building in the background was the old cricket pavilion for St Edwards school playing fields. When they built the new school circa 60/61 WHU shared the pitches with the school.

 

It was mentioned in one of the reports when we signed him.

i don’t know if we offered him a deal at the time, at least not before his last club did, but the player was snapped up

 

He even mentions it in the Radio Leeds interview posted on the forum.

 

McDonald said in an interview club were extremely interested and he was too but it didnt get over the line because of a 'paperwork issue'.

That to me suggests maybe insurance purposes because of his liver issues. It was early in the window I guess if he was on trial and we signed Clayton instead around 19th January.

It obviously wasn't enough to upset him because here he is...

 

I hope it was his kidney, not his liver because liver transplant patients usually only last 5-10 years after !
