What happened to triallists? We don't seem to have gone down that road for a while. Might be good to have a look at how these boys plays in our set up, before handing out 3 year contracts. However, I guess such is the clamour for strikers these days, he'd already be signed up for someone else before we play our first friendly games. I trust MH when he says he's someone who has been on the radar for a while. Having said that, I believe he said that about a lot of our previous loans who turned out to be absolute garbage - Costelloe being the example (I wonder where he will end up?).

 

After 65 years of supporting WHU, I've conditioned myself to rejoice in any smidgen of hope. Take anything positive as you'll be waiting a long time for the next

That's the difference. We are now going after players that other clubs want, rather than trying to pick up the best of the ones that nobody is interested in.

Would be interesting to trawl through the archives and see which triallists we actually signed, who went on to be solid first team players (for us or anybody else). Kamara got a few right.

 

The club are still trialling but not announcing anything. Wasn’t McDonald here in January for 3 days without anyone outside the club being aware?

 

I wasn't aware of that. He played in some closed doors friendlies? If that's the case, then good, I'm glad it's happening.

 

Now you've just ruined all my perceptions of @Interested Bystander I had this impression that he was really Ray Winstone or at least Danny Dyer. Now you tell me he's called Colin !!!

Strange there are no injuries recorded, because the local rag in Hull are reporting his season was disrupted by injury, hence why he only featured 14 times for them before going out on loan. He then only made 2 starts for Oxford and was subbed off in both matches, with 5 appearances from the bench, which could suggest that he still wasn't 100% fit.
