    Honestly, it goes back years.

    I remember being on the train home from Wolverhampton after we'd been promoted to the Premier League, while most of the train full of City fans were in celebratory mood there was a group talking about how hard the Premier League would be, we were bound to get relegated and all agreed that we needed a better assistant manager than Hutchings.

    If we had a better assistant then we wouldn't have had Hutchings as manager for the start of the second season.. with hindsight.........

    Bizarre article in todays t&a about popular assistant managers. An extremely lazy piece of journalism only going back as far as Yorath. No mention of Yorath coming back for a spell under Jewell as assistant and has Stuart as hutchins assistant (dont remember that) but more worryingly counts Kenny Black as popular !!!!

    Potentially very good appointment. Adams could have chosen anyone. He's decided upon Fred. And Fred will learn a lot from Adams about what it takes to be a manager in for the long haul and the tough decisions that have to be made. Hope it works out well.

    It was a bit tongue in cheek. However having said that Parker doesn't do enough research in order to get his facts right when going back in time. It's not difficult with the internet there to help him fact check his stories.

    Or, because he was such a good assistant manager he was given the opportunity. Maybe it should read if we had an assistant, less respected he wouldn't have got the job
