He certainly comes across like he is the man who makes the calls.

 

Because he is confident in his own ability. He doesn't see Trueman as a threat. He sees someone who knows the club who he feels he can work with.

 

Why would Adams see Trueman as a threat?

Adams signed a 3 year contract and he aims to get Bradford City up the leagues. Trueman can take over he won't care. He's confident in his own ability.

Some people on here are up their own backsides with conspiracy theories. Adams doesn't have a regular sidekick and feels he can work with Trueman who is also a good link with the young lads coming through, end of.

As per usual a post gets misunderstood...

I was replying to a post by @Fordy117 who stated that Sparks saw Trueman as the next manager, and therefore the appointment made sense.

I was challenging the LOGIC OF THE POST, not the logic of Adams.

You don't appoint a number two because they replace you; you appoint them because you think they will help you and assist you in your role.

I have no doubt Adams DIDN'T appoint Trueman because he's the inevitable successor; he appointed him because he sees a good coach and assistant that will help him get results.

I didn't say Adams saw Trueman as a threat......... my point is, there's no reason to appoint your successor in football. You appoint the right man for the right job, the fact Sparks sees him as a potential successor has NOTHING to do with his appointment. Which is what YOU put forward, not me.

Adams has appointed Trueman for the reasons you outline, which are the same reasons I outlined earlier.

 

I wasn't having a go at you mate, it was a general comment about some people being negative about situations before seeing how things pan out.

It’s a strange one even by our standards. Many wanted Truman removed from the management role, Sparks agrees and obliges. He then goes out of his way to big him up and go on about how talented he is. A few weeks after the making up the link role he reappoints him to the management team and everyone is suddenly happy about it.

 

No, fair enough, I just logged on to four posts correcting me for insinuating Adams was worried about Trueman as a successor, which was definitely not the point I was trying to make
