Doyle is out of contract next week. He wants to move back to Ireland to run a family business.

As Swindon will blatantly be in a relegation struggle next season as well as a financial one may think it’s a case of the rat trying to jump ship again.

Glad we’re shot of him. Sulky tw4t who wants it all his own way.

If that's the case Swindon were obviously happy for him to shoot them into league one and giving him a contract till the end of the season.

Maybe so , but the majority of precious footballers are. Wish he'd had scored 25 in 28 for us this season like he did for a rival club in our league.
Always scored goals in the khazi league, should have been a certainty for 20 for Us
A manager should be able to man-manage 2 dozen or so footballers, that's his job to do. If you have to massage a few ego's so be it. get the results.
He was woefully managed at VP in my opinion.

I hear he's in talks with Mansfield, probably to partner Bowery. Was having a new house on Merseyside last I heard so Ireland seems very unlikely.
Think the main reason is Swindon can't afford him and possibly in financial trouble but Mansfield have big money.

He was our leading goal scorer in div 1, it was Rhodes that let him go out on loan. Bowyer was one often worst attacking managers and managers this club has ever had and you need to look at Vaughan, Donaldson, Reeves, McCartan performances to understand this.

Yes, Doyle wanted to rejoin Swindon but you can't blame him as Bowyer was still playing his dull football and Vaughan clear wasn't happy.

Good luck to Doyle but any manager with Doyle, Vaughan and Donaldson in div 2 should have been looking at automatic promotion.

I think also a player that has proven himself in div 1 amd 2 can demand the wages he wants and if Swindon can't offer him what he wants then fine he moves. Swindon benefited because they pulled Bradford's pants down and he got them in to div 1, so it's win, win all round.

He cant score without service. That was our fault. Good luck to him and I thought we got some cash for him? And promotion cash too?

The fact is Vaughan playing in the same team had already scored the same has Doyle had the season before and would almost certainly have scored over 20 for the season

Mansfield signed another striker today from Torquay to add to Jordan Bowery over weekend. Really going for it already if they get Doyle too.
Means nothing but shows clubs signing players now

Bowery is shit and whilst the other lad has been prolific in non league there's no guarantee he can make the step up. But yes, clubs who have a professional recruitment structure will be making moves now, whether that's approaching players or fully signing them like Mansfield. We won't be.

I don’t rate either of them I agree but if that’s who they want to sign they are ahead of the pack.
We will be fishing in the shit pool at the end

In my opinion, regardless of the current situation, it will be a disgrace if we're fishing in the shit pool with the amount of quality available at a vastly reduced cost.

I would hope to see some movement next week once all contracts are up but can’t see it with Rhodes holding purse strings.

I think we may be waiting to see if anything like a salary cap happens, no good signing the money shark doyles of this world only to find they put a salary cap in so now you cant afford a goalie

We haven't got time to wait and if it's anything like the decision to end the season for league 1 & 2 clubs then we will be waiting a long time.

I highly doubt salary cap will happen this coming season. It's getting to late to implement.

Let's not go back to making excuses for the club. Mansfield and others are out of the blocks now, so it's time for us to get moving soon.

Mansfield may be out of the block, but I certainly aren't jealous of their recruitment so far.

Tom Clarke released by Preston. 32, centre back/centre mid, a leader with a wealth of Championship experience. Brother of Nathan Clarke and a local lad. Would be a great signing but will probably end up in L1.

Michael Bostwick released by Lincoln. 32, centre mid, big lad with a nasty side, something we lack. Was part of Lincoln's promotion squad so been there done that. Definitely should be looking at him.

Ben Reeves released by MK Dons. 28, so has a few years in the tank and attacking midfielder. Linked with him a few times over years, think Charlton beat us to his signature a few years back. Scored 50 in 260 from midfield.

Sunderland have had a cull. Some decent players let go but have no idea how viable they are. Jack Baldwin, centre back, ex Posh and Duncan Watmore, winger, stood out.

Mansfield have released Otis Khan, winger who we were linked with numerous times. Lost his way a bit since leaving Yeovil but might need a Stuart cuddle.

Alex Woodyard (Posh) and Jordy Hiwula (Coventry) both released and worth a mention too.

Tom Clarke would be a good signing if viable. Bostwick linked with Mansfield, be a good signing for whoever in this league.

I would take Hiwula, apparently turned us down in January

Woodyard would be good, if free from injury now

Come on, guys. After all the January hoo-ha surrounding Doyle you must have known the situation. We offered him a 6 month contract for 2 reasons. 1. We didn’t want to be stuck with a high earner if we didn’t get promoted and 2. It gave Doyle the chance to see if he could get a better deal at the end of his contract. We’re still favourites to re-sign him and have offered virtually all our OOC players new deals. The only players we’ve released are 4 ex youth teamers.

The salary cap is a big player in recruitment and if brought in it is for the 20/21 season so it’s difficult for clubs to offer contracts without knowing if a cap is going to brought in or not. Personally, I wouldn’t be too bothered if he left - there’s a huge pool of players to choose from nowadays.
