Maybe my memory is playing tricks with me - But didn't Peter Thorne also have an 'injury crisis' period prior to joining BCAFC ? ;)

Talking of Thorne .......... I still chuckle about this ........
I remember Thorne and 'Billy' Topp playing at the same time - A City corner ..... The ball evades Thorne, but falls kindly for Topp. It was easier to score (blind folded), than miss. Sure enough, Topp managed to clip the ball over the bar. PT struggled to stay on his feet as he laughed at the 'blooper' - Right infront of the KOP !

I'm not sure what you quantify as "very few" but it certainly wasnt a rarity. Just from the top of my head we were openly after Reeves, Agard, Armstrong and Wyke. Interest in other players such as Wright, Scannell, Seedorf and a few others were all confirmed from third party sources before we had officially signed them.

That's not a dig either because we certainly aren't the only one's who openly discuss targets in the press. I presume the reason managers feel so comfortable doing it is because it doesn't make much, if any difference with regards to landing a player.

Fair question, NKP for me has been part of a dismal deterioration in the clubs fortunes, and he almost certainly needs a new challenge.

But I'm fairness, I think he will be in L2, so had his time at City not run its course, he would make sense on paper.

Lets be honest, we won't be getting players infinitely better than either. We just need the players that suit Bowyer's Bradford City.

I'd say Cullen had a much higher chance of being suitable than NKP.

    I agree, Jon.
There may be little to separate the two regarding individual talent, in their respective rolls - But I think Cullen has more than an edge, in aptitude. Again this is KEY. Bowyer may well not get all he wants in terms of talent. However, what he IS looking for, are players who will follow instructions, and play for the greater good of the team. Any team with that 'in the Bank' are already 12 points (at least) to the good, before a ball is even kicked.

Edit - Take Stuart McCall - Upto December, City were not really good enough to sustain a top 6 placing, yet what he had 'in the Bank' from the players, got City there. Just a few weeks, and City had gone beyond 'overdraft', and the goodwill had gone with it.

How many times have you spoken to Mark Cullen or even closely watched him play to make this observation?

Sounds to me like you're just making it up because you think it sounds clever.

For the record though, I don't believe either are good enough to help us improve.

If he moves surely he is an improvement on Doyle?

Before, and unfortunately, during as well... We could use someone with his scoring record now.

We'll have to get him fit first. That's seemingly been a problem for the last few years.

Might need an actual fitness coach to achieve that,

    Just saying like.

Sorry, NM - I don't need to say anything to 'sound' clever. The fact is - I'm both smart and clever, in equal measure. At the same time, I don't have to justify anything I write on a Forum. It's all about opinions, I gave mine, as you have yours. The BIG difference, between the two .......... I'm not challenging yours. ;)

It's not even close. Doyle's scoring record when played properly is head and shoulders above Cullen's.

I'm just asking how you know about Mark Cullens "aptitude"? Simple enough question I'd have thought and I'm genuinely interested to know.

Surley there must be the equivalent of a versatile player who can play multiple positions, that can be a fitness coach, defensive coach, attacking coach, goal keeping coach, conditioning coach ;).

Your middle line provoked my response, NM.

I have never knowingly spoken to Cullen, his family or friends.
As for my limited viewing, only match highlights, I'm afraid (What else is there to do when you often can't sleep at 2.00 AM ?). However, from what I have seen, Cullen would be a cheaper (yet similar) option than Ball, but from what I've seen, Cullen appears to 'put himself' about with more determination, than Ball. My final thought is, that IF Bowyer is serious about Cullen, then I assume it's because of what he recalls from his earlier experience of him. :)
