Lincoln sign McCartan on loan from us who were in div 1 at the time and we brought for around 250k.

So when you get a player from higher in the league than you then you expect them to make a massive difference e.g. LOB for us last season.

McCartan couldn't even get into the team week in, week out. Yes he score a few goals but really he failed to make that difference you expect.

Lincoln go up and turn to Jack Payne instead.

He isn't good enough but you hang on to him scoring a few a Lincoln.

What's he done for Bradford City? Failed!

 

I didn’t disregard it though did I, seen as it was I that mentioned it. You asked Fordy who he would have chosen to be The CDP if not Devine. I stated that I would have picked GSK, which obviously means I wouldn’t have allowed him to go on loan.

As for your 2nd point, every decision made is Bowyer’s choice. Doesn’t mean we agree with them and that we should ask him why. I’ve made it clear that I do not see the point in putting the reserve keeper on the bench, who is unlikely to come on and get game time (unlike outfield players). For me, it made more sense to stick GSK on the bench as our CDP rather than letting him go out on loan to non-league.

Eion Doyle scored goals and almost single handedly kept Oldham up just 18mths ago. He was the 1st name on their L1 team sheet (as opposed to struggling to get starts in L2). Yet one is ridiculed for his efforts, whilst you’re still desperately trying to convince us McCartan is good enough

 

Fordy, have you read Julian's programme notes from yesterday?, they give you all you need to know about finance and thus transfers going forward.

 

We have probably the best strike force in the division Doyle has gone because we can’t afford to have expensive players sat on the bench every week. We need back up players and McCarten has proved capable and because you don’t like him doesn’t change that

I just heard Bowyer say that offer came in for Doyle, looked at it, thought could get 1 or 2 players in so let him go.

I just heard driving to the game on radio Leeds that we made 15m or so from sell on's, but now in div 2 and lack quality players, now have no assets left and our recruitment certainty local has been extremely poor & we need to really review how we recruit going forward. I agree with all this.

To be left with Danny Devine as our only real local option is embarrassing because he isn't good enough. As fans we know our midfield is weak and is shocking that Bowyer hasn't improved on it as yet.

Donaldson and Vaughan are class acts for this division but behind them with Doyle leaving we have nothing. Massive gamble that really but hopefully we will bring in 1 or 2 more like Bowyer hopes also.

 

Not really a good save Park, it was too close to him. That said we will see a different player to the one previously here a year ago.

 

We can't afford to have a non productive player on high wages sat on the bench, the move was a no brainer for all parties concerned.

 

Doyle was played wrong by Bowyer in the 3 games at the start of the season for sure.

He will score goals if you play him correctly as Swindon did but from our point of view is it a gamble letting him go? Yes because he is better back up to Donaldson and Vaughan then any player we correctly have on our books but I understand letting him go if we can get another midfielder in, another forward and LW in to the club.

I would rather AOC go even though he's done ok so far this season but football doesn't work like that sometimes.

We're playing Vaughan properly, and Vaughan is miles better than Doyle on every possible measure.

We need a back up for D and V that can slot in without having to change tactics completely, ie, not Doyle.

 

Eh! Mr Email we didn't need to change tactics if Doyle was playing. Bowyer messed up.

Doyle like D & V do their best work in the box

 

Which one would you have dropped to accommodate Doyle

 

Feels as if we are crossing the Sahara desert without water on a buggered camel sometimes on here.

 

Neither but we now have to play them every game and hope they don't get injured.
