    Agreed. I just think it's becoming an argument where people believe it's one or the other when in reality I honestly believe it'll be a mix.

    Even Man City play a mix, a lot less than we may favour, as they use Edersons immense long balls to catch defences out.

    My view is that if you have variety in the way you move the ball forward, then the opposition are going to find it more difficult to anticipate and organise to defend.

    Going forward I like the ball played to feet, down the channels for a run, crosses into the box and indeed an ‘over the top’ ball.

    What is essential both in attack and defence, is a team which understands each other. Continuity is most likely to assist this.

    Couldn't agree more. It's not a case of singularly playing long ball, short ball, passing football or anything else - it's about having a team and squad who are skillful and confident enough to mix all of that up, whilst looking for and seeking out those 'decisive' moments. I desperately hope I'm not proven wrong, but Bowyer seems to bringing in the right players to achieve that. Still some signings to go methinks, but we already have a good and varied bunch here.

    I think long ball is being harsh. Direct ball or a long pass. He definitely doesn’t launch it long hoping someone gets on to it

    With Vaughan and Donaldson upfront we have two outball targets if we want to bypass the midfield. I was very impressed with Vaughan's movement and willingness to bring others into play via a long pass and Donaldson holdup play against Wigan in the friendly.
