I expected more but I saw real quality in him. The type of player he is, he suffered from not having decent wide players who could stretch teams, or forwards who could do the same, or a midfield partner who could tackle. It was a bit like watching a quarterback who couldn’t do much because the players around him were crap.

In a balanced side, he’d be top drawer in league 1.

I can't remember who it was against but one of the games Butterfield absolutely ran the show and showed he had quality. Difficult to do in a team that was so static last season.

Ability-wise it was clear him and Payne were miles ahead of the rest of our squad last year.

People amaze me when they can come up with a random name like that. How do you have an image of a footballer, who most of us probably havent heard of, to suggest a photo may be him

How should we treat the players we want to move on? Do we keep people like Riley and AOC in the fold or do we make it clear they'll only be in the squad in the event of injuries? Surely Riley must realise that he's third choice in a League 2 outfit and look for opportunities elsewhere. Or does he just want the money as long as it lasts? Or maybe he is looking to move but no one wants him? All these factors must make assembling a squad within a budget a very difficult balancing act requiring very astute management.

 

Has there been any suggestion or hints from Bowyer that AOC Is unwanted?, if so, I havent seen it.

I think it is perhaps wishful thinking from a lot of fans who took an intense dislike of him

 

I think regardless of what us fans think about him, Bowyer will want him gone solely for his defensive performances last season. At times he was as bad as NKP and chicksen who both got the boot so I'd be amazed if Bowyer saw him as anything other than back up.

 

To be fair to him, I think he finished the season quite strongly alongside Paudie. Maybe Bowyer sees something in that partnership?

 

That's partly my point. There's no evidence Bowyer has suggested to anyone that he doesn't want them, which is sensible but might make it harder to move them on if they think there's a place for them in the team. Something was clearly badly wrong last year and we still have a fair chunk of them with us.
