Killa and O’Brien are bang average.

Killa left us for a pub team and O’Brien’s career is no higher than L1/2!

 

So you're constantly telling us that nobody can be judged after last seasons shit show, but you're prepared to label a guy (who by your own admission was one of our best players) as being "bang average". You're a walking contradiction and will no doubt have creamed yourself if O'Brien and Kilgallon were still city players.

Stick to attendances.

 

Not a rumour but reading the T&A it seems like Shay and Gibson are going to get a chance to prove themselves.

Not really sure Gibson's best position (queue the 'he doesn't have one' or 'left back.... In the changing rooms' brigade) but it would seem to be wide one side or t'other so we may only be looking for one further wide player just now.

Centre midfield is the big concern for me.

 

I'd be happy for McCartan to be in and around the squad as he clearly has ability to play in L2.

Gibson, nah, not good enough and we need to trim the fat around the squad. Gibson, Patrick and such like need to be let go.

 

His dad is adamant he's a natural AM who's been shoehorned out of position out wide.

 

Well....if his daddy say’s so! Personally I think he needs binning and his dad needs a reality check.

 

That has to be the worst post I've ever read.

 

People seem to think our defence is sorted out but it isn't. We've got one decent centre back, another from Accrington reserves who's an unknown quantity, a complete rookie and Anthony O'Connor whom almost everyone thinks is poor and needs to be moved on. Even if he stays we need another, preferably big and nasty, centre half and if he goes we need two. I think we need two more anyway.

 

He didn't do much in his time at Stevenage. Think he created a goal or two but that was about it. We'll have to see in pre-season how he goes. He must surely realise that if it doesn't work out now he's not going to get many offers so he needs to knuckle down. My only worry is if he has decent game or two his head swells again.

 

Bit concerning... it was the straight line work that did for Taylor the other year!

 

I'd be prepared to give Gibson this season but if we could offload Patrick I'd let him go. League 2 could be Gibson's level and working with Donaldson/Vaughan could be very valuable for his development.

 

Agree, I would love to see somebody like Jake Wright alongside Paudie. Maybe Jake would like to come home like Clayton Donaldson?

 

6 appearances with a 1 goal and an assist to his name I think. A small sample size but not too bad.

Personally, I don't think he has a great football brain. Full of tricks but that's about it. It won't take long for defenders to figure him out, if they even have to at all. Not convinced he'll be able to establish himself at City but on the off chance that he does, good coaching and application is going to be absolutley crutial.

 

By all means, judge the players on last season’s shit show - so many players who have played at a higher level all playing just as shit as the next player - ‘bit of a confidence, isn’t it?

Anyone with an element of enthusiasm will shine brightly in and amongst our lot last season - that player was Lewis O’Brien. Limited ability, but by god, could he run around a lot.

Killa in his first season was a vulnerability - granted, we sometimes utilised him at LB, but the season after, following the fan unrest with the board and some players, again, he was solid enough and better than the rest of the shit show to scoop up all of the player’ awards....and even despite that, he found himself playing football for Hamilton Academical - go figure.

One assertion you're making is that it can't be a coincidence that they were all shit. When Edin Rahic was leading recruitment, I disagree with you.

Secondly, they weren't all shit. Caddis, Ball and POC did alright. Additionally, Payne was immense for the first half of the season. The scope to perform was clearly there unless you're prepared to disregard 4 players to make your point?

Finally, I don't know why i've even bothered to respond to the above as it doesn't address the point I made. If you've made it very clear that no one can be judged after last season's shitshow, then why have you done it to O'Brien? If you thought he was bang average, then why don't you say the same about the others who by your own admission were worse than him?

 

Maybe next summer. Don't see him leaving Sheff Utd now!

 

Completely agree. Given what Bowyer said the other day about recruitment so far being within the budget, I wonder if bringing in other defenders hinges on O'Connor being moved on first to free up wages?

 

Killa bang average? haha. someone needs a reality check. he's the best centre half we've had since Davo.
