We were after Callum Cooke from Peterborough.

Peterborough wanted a sale only. Presume we didn’t have money for a fee.

Shows Bowyer knows midfield isn’t complete too

 

Bollocks, Devine will be the enforcer, two footing everyone. Possibly.

 

I wouldn’t be surprised if we get this deal done. Possibly a loan and purchase at the end of the season or in Jan and hope we have a little cup run to raise some cash.

 

I note that Bowyer had him on loan at Blackpool.

Crewe tried to sign him in Jan, but wouldnt pay the transfer fee wanted by Posh.

I wonder how much Posh want for him now?

 

Wonder how long he's got left on his contract?

Yes, it would appear it has not worked out for him at Posh, and they transfer listed him at the end of last season. I dont know what they paid for him last summer, but presume trying to get a decent fee back for him whilst freeing up wages to buy other players.

You would think the nearer it gets to transfer deadline day without him moving on, the cheaper his transfer fee might be, otherwise they are stuck with a player not wanted on the wage bill

 

It isn’t necessary that they don’t want him. They put every player on the transfer list as soon as they enter their last season. It is a consistent approach from the club and puts pressure on the player to sign an extension or leave for a fee.

But what quality is that? He's past it and his legs have gone.

Yes, I know about Posh's policy of transfer listing some players with 1 year left on contract. However, with Cooke, it would appear he is not wanted. Only 10 starts since signing last year, and they were prepared to sell to Crewe in January this year. I would imagine they are simply asking for far too much for an unwanted player.

It'll also be interesting who we bring in on loan. Potential to bring in some higher division players looking for experience. We haven't done badly in the past with a few (the West Ham lads).

 

OR ........ Wanting to limit any losses ? (I'm sure he'll be sold - But only to the highest bidder.)
