You really don't like other posters having a different opinion to yourself or disagreeing with your opinions do you.

Whether we nurture a team of unproven or however our transfers go, I will be happy as long as we are competitive throughout the Club and build on that.

First working day tomorrow after contracts end. Let's hope we continue our team building in the same decisive way as we have up to now.

I'm quite pleased with the signings we've made so far and I'm quietly confident we'll surprise one or two with a better than expected season.

Rahic has given the coaching job to someone who didn't apply for it but he's been supported with signings in a much more positive way than Macca experienced.

    Onwards and upwards!

But this is the whole crux of the argument for and against. Their ‘business model’ (as @Ulysses S Grant@Ulysses S Grant points out) was supposed to be over 3yrs. This seems to have now been changed or even scrapped.

Rahic said the only way for the club to move forward was to become self-sustaining and developing our own players was the way to do this. But this is where is gets murky. They have also said we would sign players that wanted to play for us, get seen and earn themselves a move to a higher level. But they’ve also said we want to build a team around those players. He also said he didn’t want to gain promotion and have to rip the team up and start again.

If their ‘business plan’ and way forward was clearer, perhaps more fans would buy into it

Indeed. It echoes my thoughts the other day when I posted about 'mixed messages' and interpretation.
It would be great to think any gems would be allowed time as per the old McCall and Hendrie situations - Play for City for a few years before City cash in. Yet I can't see that in our future. As soon as a club 'triggers' what in Edins mind is a good offer, the kids will go. That is how I read the situation, anyway. :)

Yes. Here's one. Apparently chasing another German keeper (I know, right, because the other two worked out so well)

Bradford City have stepped up there attempts to bring in 23 Year old former Frankfurt and Schalke youth keeper Bernd Schipmann who's current contract with Bundesliga 2 side Holstein Kiel expires 30th June. The 6ft 4Inch Munster born keeper is due to meet with owner Edin Rahic and Greg Abbot to finalise the deal.
Not sure how true it is. Don't shoot the messenger But it is a rumour!

It isn't just Eden. Even Neymar was let go for an offer they couldn't refuse and it's not an isolated case if the top teams want somebody they will go all out. Just pointing out that whichever player whatever the amount a business cannot always refuse. If there's a reasonably stable platform then it would at least mean we could hold out for a decent price and don't have to sell to the lowest bidder in order to keep the banks off our backs or just to able to out a shilling in the electric meter.

It's not his plaything it's a business, there's a few on here claim to have been in positions of business management etc. so should know that in reality he can't just do things on a whim that there has to be a purpose to it if as stated the owners wish to create a viable business.

So the word sustainable can also mean tax and vat paid on time, wages in the bank and other liabilities met. When that happens you have then a reserve a certain amount you can borrow in that you've no debts so have something to mortgage in this case revenues which will go up when we reach the Championship which will then demand adjustment for new circumstances. It also then opens the possibility of further investment, as I stated before then they would be adding value not just paying off debt and the investment has still some chance of being realised in part at least as the further we go the higher the market value of the club as well as having assets with some market value, outside of Ollie I'm struggling to remember the last time we collected a fee for a player that's appeared in the first team

Like it or not we are on the verge of being a truly professional and well run club for the first time certainly in the modern era and I for one say about bloody time.

So to counter the first argument you throw at me, yes we need the players to get there. When you look back a few seasons ago at our recruitment and our recruitment now and cannot see the difference then there's no hope for you. We're complaining yet some of our signings would be welcome at most if not all L1 clubs and we have a keeper who chose us over WBA if the reports are true and we've yet to see who else is brought in so it's difficult just at the moment to judge what sort of threat we will pose this year but I'm optimistic about troubling the top half of the table rather than looking nervously at the trapdoor.

Edin's plan is based on sustainability, but supporters feed on competition and success. As a spectator sport, this leads to a conflict of values. We have to retain a competitive and measurable progression to maintain interest and therefore I am optimistic that the new set up will, given time, achieve both objectives.
