If we do get JH back, I think it will really create a huge backlash towards not just the board, but also Hopkin. It's really lazy transfer activity signing players just because of their past connections with the club. Yeah, he's a targetman and is the type of player we're rumoured to after, but he's hardly pulled up any trees prior to leaving us. Add to the fact that he's the wrong side of thirty, and has had a stop start season due to injury and consistency, then this makes it look like a real panic purchase.
I'm hoping this can be filed in the rumour bin along with Billy Clarke.

 

Not a rumour but would anyone like to see Omar bogle sign, Cardiff are sending him out on loan again although pompey very keen.

I'd be worried about lifestyle rumours being the reason he hasn't made any impression anywhere after leaving us.Despite all the criticism of JH he was at the centre of many wonderful moments along with Nahki Wells especially.

I don't think he is the answer any more.His reputation as a difficult target man for the opposition has gone and injuries and age are not going to help.

 

We ought to try doing that tactically during games......

 

The guy should be treated with respect, not saying we should go for him but he would sure give his all at least til the end of this season...

 

I agree but we really can't afford to be sentimental based on the past in the hope he can repeat it again.Neither do we want to allow desperation to cloud reality.

 

You could argue that he has backed Hopkin by keeping hold of Payne. We’re probably paying Payne the equivalent of 3 decent league one players, if the rumoured figures are correct.

I think we’re more likely to see evidence of his backing in the summer when Hopkin has more time and choice to get the players in he wants. At the moment, it’s a sticking plaster to get us over the line.

 

What lifestyle rumours are we talking about? I know that his Mrs didn't move with him down south, so maybe he's hitting the bars in the Big Smoke because of that, if this is what you mean by lifestyle rumours?
