you might want to let Chelsea know that Higuain is rubbish, and Stevie G at Rangers would have appreciated a heads up that Defoe and Davies are poor signings because he got them done early.

 

We didn't do any deals early in the summer 2012/13 season. Those stars we signed were all late June and one or two were late July

Bury did do all their deals early last season (summer) and bought the wrong ones

We did our earlier than normal, under either Parky or McCall - it was commented by several on these boards and have arguably had our worst summer recruitment for about ten years

There is simply no pattern. There is no evidence that early deals get the best players.

Imagine if we hadn't waited for Gary Jones (signed late June) or Nathan Doyle (early August) or Garry Thomson (early July) or James Meredith (late June) and bought the 'next best' because we could get that player early??!!

Managers, should have targets and not just buy for the sake of it, because it's 'early'

Why bother with a season long loan if the clubs pull the plug in January. If a club sends a player out on loan for the season then they shouldn't be allowed to call them back and shouldn't be allowed a recall clause. This is something that the FA should look at because it causes a lot of problems for lower league teams that have built their squads with up to 5 on loan and having them called back at the last minute.

 

I disagree with that.
the club owns the players contract, and ultimately wish to develop him - its up to them what they do with him, if they do a lower league club a favour by loaning him out it's their prerogative to include a call back clause, or the option to send him higher up the pyramid. clubs have to be aware of this and have contingency plans, otherwise don't bother loaning.

 

I think the problem is that DH said we are ready and will have hopefully 4 or 5 players in for the NYD game. 25 days later we have 3 players in and no real solid targets following (that anyone knows of). We are in a position where we have shipped out dead wood, can't ship out dead wood and in the process have lost an experienced midfielder and possibly another striker which leaves us down to one.

But if we follow the trend of doing all our business next week it should all be hunky dory.

 

Effectively what your doing is sending a player out in the hope that they either turn into a decent player with playing experience and then play them or put them in the window for other clubs to look at and buy.
