Whilst the referee was inconsistent to say the least, especially the two body checks on Vernam, it gave the game a bit of edge, which fed onto the terraces.
I enjoyed that game but as RT said above, they were poor. Up there with Stevenage and Leyton Orient "on the day" performance

Great to see Hughes has really got the crowd on side, and more importantly that he fully acknowledges it and is loving the support

My thoughts exactly, of the teams in the top 10 how many are actually better than us, perhaps 2?
Angol’s hitting of the post summed up our luck.
9 men against 12, yes12 …..I thought we were very very good and so unlucky not to get a win.

Bodes well , but Watts decision making…..Sorry we have to let him go. Cooke on the left when he came on…..? He looked like a lost soul?

It was like a retire home for old players and it showed. No movement and no pace, they will not trouble the playoffs.

Can’t disagree Dave , but I do get a very distinct impression that Angol is really scared to do that
“instant sprint”. Hard to describe. A talent and fully fit he terrifies any defence. Something I keep banging on about. Good forwards who scare the oppo have mobility and pace. I fear he’s not quite got that pace because mentally he’s got this hamstring problem. It’s a shame! I hope he can be retained and MH can get him firing again?

It's a tough call Kev. On his day he's better than this level but gotta weigh up that risk assessment. Can't afford to have a player on the sidelines.

well, where do you start. Great performance and really deserved the win. Not going to be too harsh on Watt . His first card should never happen , the ref should have blown for the foul earlier and his push on the player would not have happened, silly thing to do and a word from Boyeson should have been enough. Never seen us awarded a free kick and have a player booked for the same incident before. The second was a foul, but Boyeson had his card out in a flash, did not think about it, just wanted to be the man as usual.
The rest of the match , we were the better team with 10 men and its fine margins, they hit the post and it goes in , Angol hits the post it stays out.
Next season is going to be some year, we can all see what Mark Huges is trying to do and he has got a tune out of a squad most deemed poor. What is it going to be like with his own players, the ground is going to be rocking.
Get them season tickets bought boys and girls, strap yourself in, its going to be some ride.

Yes , I give the two in the middle the praise no problem because they had little threat most of the game ,and what they had they had deal with was dealt with effectively.Hendrie’s control and crossing was dire before the goal , however he got better after it.

Ridehalgh has yet to become the player he was prior to injury. His crossing today was poor.

Deserved to win that in my view. Although I'll agree he was a bit silly I'm going to stick up for Watt here if that incompetent had blown for the free kick to us (which it clearly was) when it first happens he doesn't react and get booked. He was playing very well up to that point and with him on the pitch we win that match easily.

Songo played well today a goal from his chance would have been fitting reward. If Angol didn't have the injury issues he isn't playing in league 2 if we can keep hold of him I think he's worth the risk though he's clearly a talented lad.

How nice is it to be going to matches feeling like the fans and team are on the same side again. Effort, commitment and sprinkles of quality today. Walked away happy with that and looking forward to the next match long May that continue.

Would he be an asset? Put it this way , even mentally challenged with his “hamstring problem” he’s better than Cook, purely because he has more mobility!

I do really wonder if he’s worth a punt and a good physio department?

It's been a problem for years Modern. The standard of referees at League 2 and National League level is so unbelievably in and out, inconsistent and often so poor, it's untrue.

It depends what's available. Look at what a quality striker like Stockton is doing at Morecambe, literally keeping them up single handedly. We definitely need to dip into the transfer market for a striker, whether we also keep hold of Angol? All down to the hamstrings I guess.

I felt today that there was a real connect between the fans and players today that I haven't heard in a long while.

You really couldn't tell who was down to 10 men.

They were utter dog shit and scored with their only proper shot on target in the whole game. Can't see them getting into the play offs.

Their fans travelled in good numbers but apart from celebrating the goal they were very quiet.

Oh and their scorer running down Midland road cupping his ear was quite an amusing site-you would have thought they had just won the PL or something.

Surely Angol has to start on Monday as we looked more mobile and threatening up top when he came on.

Good game nice and calm and with a right team behind him I can see MH putting together a promotion winning side. We played some really good football today.

Even with ten men our full backs had opportunity to put good crosses in which both failed to do all game. And to be fair the back four had very little to defend against. I can't remember a game where 10 men were clearly more of a ln attacking threat than the 11 they were up against. If I was a Tranmere fan, and there following today was commendable, I would be demanding the sacking of the manager after a performance.liek that. As a fan base they deserve better than watching overpaid oldies stealing a wage.
