Let me try. "It's more than two games. They have been good almost from when Hughes came in. So close to the 5th clean sheet today."

I really think they make changes every year just for the sake of it, agree on all 3 points..

They have to justify their salary.

I thought the referee was appalling as he has been for us for many many seasons.
Wat was practically assaulted before he threw him off. You only have to look at what happened to see he lost control of the game. As ppl have mentioned he didn’t book the Tranmere player but gave us a free kick and booked our player for his foul. Most refs might have booked both, but it wouldn’t have got to that if he had stopped the game and given us a free kick and there was no need to book anybody.

Watt is a hot head and Tranmere had done their home work, and they kept at him, and it was nailed on he would be booked again.

we went down to 10 men Bouyson was not100% responsible but he most certainly contributed to it. He should not be reffing at a professional level. Once players lose respect for the ref, discipline goes out of the door.

I don't regard Watt as a hothead. He is young and inexperienced yes. Paudie is certainly in the hothead category and Sutton was when he first arrived from Scunthorpe, but on the whole City seem a quite well mannered bunch, perhaps overly so.

Agreed. We never get into the referee’s ear , EVER. Spearing was at it from minute 1 yesterday, then Clarke joined in for the rest of the game. We are too nice and need a steely ear bender presence in the middle. All the top teams are good at it and irrespective what people think, it IS effective against weak referees. They influence and make the ref form opinions quickly. They got Watt booked for the shove by challenging the ref, to mask the fact it was their player who committed the first, in my opinion, bookable offence. They got in the refs ear and guess what..he forgot to book the original culprit. We need the midfield general to replace Evans when he goes.

The changes have created more problems than the original problem was supposedly being addressed.

Paudie is only two years older than Watty. Hardly more experience to warrant a difference between the two. They both are masters of their own downfall. Watt fell for it hook line and sinker yesterday and gave an incompetent referee no option but to brandish the yellows.

Wonder if this played into it yesterday.

People say Paudie is a hothead and a potential liability, but he very rarely gets sent off - and the only time he saw red this season it got overturned.

Paudie being used to being emotional probably let's him avoid going too far. Watt seeming like a fairly cool customer but losing his head a bit like yesterday could be because he just doesn't have the same control.

Yet still, people will watch Paudie and expect him to get sent off.

Boyeson has refereed long enough to be better than he is and will never improve on been poor at best, The first incident was a verbal talking to at best and the second yellow was one of many tackles that should have had yellow given if that one was, He is known for been inconsistent and should not be in charge of professional players as his judgment is suspect

Although I agree Trevor Watt made it easy for Boyeson to give him a yellow when he raised his hands to the Tranmere player, as you say it wasn't even handbags and worth no more than a talking too and his wrist slapping.

Totally agree but let’s be honest Watty didn’t help his own cause. An architect of his own downfall ! Raising one’s hand towards an opponent is a bookable offence , there is no in between. He did , no question, and that’s the reason why he got booked the first time.

Watt should not have reacted. He was fouled. It might have been a yellow for their man but Watts reaction made it into a different decision. The ref didn’t help in his slowness to award the blatant dragging back. He also got the second yellow out in a second. Zero consideration. Poor official. But Watt didn’t help himself which is a shame because he was running the game. Boyeson gave several erratic decisions. Vernam stopped on the half way line after breaking beyond the DM was cynical. No booking. Booked Bass very quickly. Maybe was influenced by their bench’s histrionics on the touch line.

TBF it wasn’t all on the ref. Cooks not good enough up top. Doesn’t hold the ball up. Lacks pace. Loads of effort in a difficult situation but Angol offers far more. Shame Angol can’t finish guilt edged chances but he is nearer a solution than cook. He’s just mainly injured. Need some pace and trickery up front with Angol. And to keep him fit. Vernams end product isn’t great. I’m not sure he is the solution but maybe a threat from the bench. We must keep Watt he can play much higher but has stagnated under Adamszzzz ball. He is like Cullen was for us. Has the ability to run a game if he has like minded players around him. Hughes football is refreshing and the crowd are responding as the effort is there. The season is a write off due to Adamszzz shocking style of you can call it that. We have several ball players but they’ve suffered from neck ache most of the season. That’s on Sparks. Hopefully Hughes makes up for it next season. I’m mildly optimistic for next year. TBF I was at the stage where I wouldn’t have renewed if Adams was still here. Better thing to do than watch the arrogant tripe he served up. But now WITH BACKING we may be ready for lift off.

Paudie and Watt are two examples of generally "well mannered" players, who have far too many mental lapses - which differentiate the great from the nearly great.

If they could actually be streetwise all the time, as opposed to one in five matches, then the idea of them playing in upper L1 or higher, wouldn't be too outrageous.

It's sad that we knew the sending off was coming. Boyeson was looking for an excuse to wind us up for the 50 millionth time. Isn't Watt aware of the ref's history? If he isn't that illustrates why he's still got a lot of mental maturity to make.

However, of course both could benefit from been around better players etc

Cook's only fitting in this team, if Hughes decided 4-4-2 is the way forward and he has Nahki Wells as a partner!!

However, that system is so limited, that we know Hughes is not going to play this way. Even at this level the No.9 has to be able to hold the ball up, as we've seen with Wilson at Vale.

Or you have two or three 'nippy' interchangeable players, who are good on the ball, i.e. like Cheltenham used and the style Exeter play.

You can't play Walker and Pereira with Cook. Having a 'no touch' No.9 - simply destroys all their great approach play. Get one who can truly play the lone striker role and suddenly goals would come.

Im sorry but I am sick to bastard death of pinning our hopes on sick notes. there is nothing in his track record to suggest we will keep him fit and to suggest otherwise is naive at best and damn foolish at worst.

I think Paudie is too often rash, in other parts of his game
