Saw this comment this morning, couldn't agree more...

I am lucky in that I very rarely use trains but I do have friends who work on them. Obviously I don't know their salaries but they definitely have a higher standard of living than me but seem to be home all the time even when not on strike. I think this strike will lead to more job losses and automation, the offer on the table 8% no compulsory redundancies is good for an organisation that is not making a profit year on year and they should take it. I would be more than happy with an 8% pay rise but will have to wait and see what i am offered.

not your fault the same as it isn't their fault, i dont think there's a hierarchy of sacrifice and that anyone who worked through covid deserves respect. i think as someone who worked through covid you'd have more respect for others who did the same

So you want train drivers to have worse conditions because you haven't got the nads to fight for better conditions in your own job?

Well, if you are happy to see your wages continually go down in real terms then bully for you. But don't be surprised if most other people aren't and are increasingly motivated to do something about it.

I’ll just leave and find something better like most normal people do and not let it affect other people like selfish strikes do.

Sorry, I'm afraid that you're the one talking bollocks.

Some examples of real terms pay decreases from 2009 - 2021:

    Paramedics -2.8%
    Police Officers -13%
    Primary School Teachers/Nursery Nurses -11.8%
    Secondary School Teachers -9.7%
    Social Workers -3%
    Nurses -5.3%
    Prison Officers -10.4%
    Firefighters -4.2%

Public Sector Average real terms pay decline -4.3%

These are Office of National Statistics figures.

Nurses saw a real terms decline in their pay five years running from 2010-2015. I know from experience that local authority staff went three years without any pay increase at all during that same period.

Just like that, eh? That simple is it? If you've studied and worked for years to get a specific qualification plus years of experience in your chosen field, are you just going to walk away from all of that and go into a different area of employment, that you have no knowledge or experience in? How is that going to get you 'something better'? You'd be starting at the bottom, with no chance of getting anywhere near the wage you just gave up, let alone bettering it. Who is going to do that with family to support, mortgage to pay etc. Get real.

Once had a run in with this mob outside Forster square station. They had the set up with their tables and magazines and some strange people with some very strange views. Tried having an intellectual debate with them but alas it was impossible.

And yet under the conservatives we're in for a summer of discontent with rampant inflation because they can't manage the economy properly.

Think this quote sums things up.........

Labour Party show their true colours, after 2 years of voting down Brexit, then 2 years of demanding extreme Covid Lockdowns, they join the strikers on the picket line trying to bring down the Country... Who would you vote for?...

No he came in and smashed the Crime Minister and Putin wannabe once again. The person who purports to want a high wage economy whilst neglecting to put wages up when he can. The Crime Minister who said in pmqs that he has brought in northern powerhouse rail when we know that both Leeds and Bradford and about 75% of the actual north arent getting a sniff of it. His deceit is now just a compulsion and theres only a minority of loons now actually supporting the guy.

    Its great to see.

I was referring to Labour leaders. The difference is vastly greater, actually on a whole new political spectrum, between Blair - Corbyn - Starmer.

As for your rather bizarre second comment, nobody is clutching at anything. It's called a forum discussion, and those who tend to agree with another poster do sometimes like said post.

I was talking to Bronco about this, good old Gary the multi millionaire taking millions off the BBC. He knows a good photo opportunity when he sees one.
