Gone completely from a defensive point of view and pretty much just had set pieces left to his game by the end.

Got rid at the right time imo.

Man with a great amount of influence on the team both good and bad
Interestingly enough our former "championship" manager who incidentally has still not found a club made him captain he must have seen something in him
I think it's the right time for him to move on he doesn't fit the criteria for our club maybe he will benefit from Pastures New
    Good Luck to him

Why not Roger? Think Killa and the number of games he played until this season. When we signed him, people were right to be concerned that he had a poor injury record- turned out well.

Some on here liked Steve Davies (striker) who has had plenty of injuries in his career, but he scored some important ones for us and, more importantly, for Dale since he left.

And I’d still have Andrew Davies back tomorrow despite his injury record.

Ryan Giggs and Steve Gerrard were 2 of the best players in the PL over their careers. Both had major injury issues at times. Let’s face it, if you’re good enough, then clubs will take a chance. After all, injuries are down to luck as much as how you play, train and look after yourself.

Now, the question is, is Hanson ‘good enough’. That’s a different ball game altogether

Am I correct in believing it is his back that is the problem? If so, then there is a very good chance he will never be 'normal' again, and indeed could rarely if ever play his usual game again. (A family member injured her back over half a lifetime ago; now approaching 90, she remains liable to days of back spasms and severe pains if some unfortunate movement tweaks that spot.)

I’m sure its part of the problem, at times in the latter part of his City career he was struggling to jump. Hope for his sake he can still have a few years left but his style of play does catch up with you.

Yeah cos if he had we might have the run of defeats we had in January (when he was out of the team) at the start of the season and had longer to get over it.

Maybe, but do you have the confidence in our recruitment strategy to bring in somebody of equal or greater quality? I don’t

McMahon had his uses, his gamesmanship and set pieces being the main ones it would be daft to criticise these we struggled without them when he went "missing" in January.

Where he can be criticised is his defending, he's looked terrible at times this season against quite mediocre players and he's a big reason why our goals conceded is as bad as it's been for years.

Parkinson played him as a right mid with Darby covering, probably his best position in a more defensive team. He worked well in McCall's first season as we had better players around him, dominated the ball which allowed him to get forward more or less at will.

People can talk about other interested parties but at the end of the day Blackburn had him in the building and decided against him and went elsewhere, Scunthorpe didn't have a RB in January so were looking for somebody as a stop gap, and Peterbrough's defence was their weakness having to play 18 year old attacking mid Leo Da Silva Lopes there for large parts of the season.

Look at the top 6, how many have RB's with his assists? But also how many have conceded as many as us? Parkinson used to get defenders who's specialty was defending, I'd rather go back to that train of thought.

The determination would be there, but I'm afraid the legs have gone! Better suited to a managerial position now -- former ward sisters know how to make things run.
