And the Queen has had to help cover up the mess by paying off the victim (and no doubt others we don’t hear about). Paid for by the tax payer no doubt?

She must have felt so ashamed and embarrassed of him. She seemed well principled herself.

    Correction 1
Andrew did nothing wrong but paid £12m to avoid any responsibility of having sex with a MINOR ( US jurisdiction) Righty Ho! Are we saying that’s acceptable?
Correction 2 The minor concerned was proven to have been trafficked inside and outside US jurisdiction otherwise why was Maxwell found guilty? Let’s not defend the indefensible please.

Reminds me of my old next door neighbour and his experiences of meeting the queen. His daughter died of covid and the old boy basically poured his heart out to me about how he did his national service at Buckingham palace with the coldstream guards. Told me about meeting heads of state and allsorts. Something he was still proud of in his 80s. I felt proud myself listening to such a wonderful story.

I don’t for a minute think it’s that at all JB, today’s cancellations isn’t a problem for me , I have posted such plenty of times, next week is different altogether . However I wish people could explain why other sports and function all carry on as if nothing has happened. I take it like this, if the games go ahead fine, it’s up to individual clubs to agree or not to play. Then supporters of either side have a choice to attend or not. The people like me who choose to grieve in my time in my way could attend as normal and participate in a notable one or two minutes silence, bringing all the fans together. Those who disagree the game shouldn’t be played can stay at home and mourn . Based on the poll I saw earlier there would have been in the region of 11k at City if they had been at home today? ( Not scientific I know but an indication) . Freedom of choice in action which all political or non political leaning folks should aspire to?

Other events have taken place this weekend, people have gone to work, shops are open, it is nonsense not to go a head as normal.

If that's the case, good. Absolutely no need to postpone every single game across the entire Premier league and football league for the sake of half a dozen games that might be affected by a lack of available policing. Rearrange those matches and let everyone else crack on.

One of the biggest things that ‘ties up police’ is disorder offences on a Friday and Saturday night. Often drink fuelled! Are you suggesting that Pubs/Clubs/Restaurants/Off Licences and Supermarkets should be shut, to stop alcohol being sold, so that they don’t require significant Police resources?

The Rangers game has been moved due to the Queens transportation from Edinburgh to London happening on Tuesday so the police will be needed then but can be freed up for Wednesday.

I totally agree that police will be needed in London and will be pulled from all over the country this week so I don’t think next weekend matches will happen but can not understand this weekend right down to grass roots. If policing is the issue then those matches that don’t need police could have happened, eg kids matches or Sunday league etc.

The FA, PL and EFL just need to open and explain why the decision was made and why the following decisions are made. If they give good reasons then o think people will accept it, it is the speculation. If it is purely policing say so.

If u16 matches at any level require a police presence at them there is something drastically wrong. None of it should have been cancelled last weekend, midweek or next weekend but just taking the juniors how long does it take to say that matches at a junior level outside the professional leagues can go ahead and send that out took me a few seconds to type that.

Absolute rubbish. Older supporters and citizens want normal life as soon as they have paid their respects, I don’t want it ramming down my neck morning, noon and night. Last weekend , absolutely fine as a mark of respect and funeral day of course, anything else and parading coffins whatever is Victorian morbid overkill.

Seeing the “ family “ smiling and waving doing nationwide trips and now Truss has joined in to make political capital out of it is frankly sick. Remember they are supposed to be in mourning….?

Everything else around the Queen's passing seems to have been meticulously planned and I'm left wondering why the same could not have applied to sports fixtures and other events. This way we'd have avoided the arbitrary confusion that we now found ourselves in whereby professional rugby/ cricket fixtures etc can continue whereas an amateur football one attracting probably no more than a dozen spectators couldn't.
Certainly not intended to be a political point but the government have taken the soft option by leaving it to each sports authority to make their own choice whether to postpone or continue in a respectful manner leading to the frustration that many of us feel.

I think the majority of the population wish to show some respect to a sovereign who has devoted her whole life to the country. That doesn’t mean life shouldn’t go on of course it should. There has been a little overkill with regards tv programming and the like but in my opinion football got it right with a one off show of respect.
