It's 1 member of any of staff can stand near the edge i.e. only the manager or assistant. 2 can stand up near the back if they are talking to each other. It should hopefully improve behaviour and make the life of the 4th official a bit easier as well as the assistant referee on the dugout side

Kevin Friend, who was one of the worst and most arrogant prem refs is now boss of the group 2 refs.

God help the championship team supporters.

Glad we have a fairly chunky squad on paper, might need it if the yellows in this game are anything to go by! Suspensions everywhere.

The real test will be when a player commits 2 of the new punishable offences and a ref has to send them off.
We’ve all seen games where players have committed 2 blatant yellow card offences but refs have been reluctant to send them off.

I still think the Prem refs will continue to bottle the big decisions.

As long as refs are consistent, that was much better, but we have garbage officials, as opposed to a Prem League ( Level 2 ) referee.

You just know we will get inconsistency in our League.

Always a pattern at the start of the seasons when yellows, reds and pens are give because of new interpretations. Just seeing which laws are still strictly followed come about October time.

    I know it's mental.

Imagine wanting to get to work on time? It'll never catch on.

I like the idea of kickoff 60 to 90 seconds after scoring.

So if a team over celebrates in the corner the other team can kick off and crack on. That would immediately put a stop to the full team running the length of the field to celebrate as far away from the centre circle as possible.

What if they are celebrating in the half which the team conceded? They would be offside when the game restarted ! Could you book them all?

They can't be offside if they haven't got the ball? I don't understand your point?

As long as they aren't in the centre circle then where the opposing (scoring) team are has no bearing on restarting the game.

So if this is implemented : Players who require assessment on the pitch for a potential injury will now receive treatment off the field of play, apart from certain circumstances as laid out in Law 5 of the Laws of the Game, the game will continue with siad player getting his injury treated, if that's the case the false injuries should decline but would head injuries increase ?.

If a player has treatment and stays on the pitch they have to go off and stay off for a minimum of 30 seconds so if you are a centre back you'll think twice before faking a head injury.

I thought head injuries were the only thing they could stay on the field for any other injury it had to be treated off the pitch.
Been watching the WWC and some of the VAR calls have been shocking but what's more annoying is it's taking so long to get the call yet the power that be were saying it won't stop the games for any length of time it will just be a matter of someone watching a reply and making the call, yet as we see week after week that is not the case.

They can have treatment on field for any injury still. If the ref blows and asks for treatment it's as it was before but now once the player asks for the physio, its now in place that unless they are being subbed off, they need to wait on the sidelines for 30 seconds which is set from them being stood by the 4th official and he times out the 30.

I think the refs want the treatment off the pitch, but players and coaches will argue if there is a real injury it's worse to move until he's assessed. There's always going to be a way to find some time to waste.

Some of the reffing this weekend has been abysmal. Far too many cards around the league. Some refs look to have been giving cards for any slide tackle, if you want a laugh look at the 2nd yellow Cafu got for Rotherham yesterday, perfectly got the ball sliding in.

    They have gone bonkers.

Take a look at our game in isolation. 14 yellows, one red and it wasn’t a dirty game, it wasn’t a game with dangerous tackles, it wasnt a game where one player showed any angry dissent towards the referee, it wasn’t a game where players got into “ confrontations “. Yet 14 yellows??

I said on Friday night Bobby Madeley, a Premier League ref got it just about right, in the Wed game , but we will get the refereeing dross and it will be different altogether. So right I was proved.

Hopefully it's one of them start of the season things where they don't know the rules yet so they are over ruling and by the end of Sept it calms down. If not, the suspensions this season will be a joke.

Looks like it wasn't just our game where the refs got the card out for every slide tackle. It will weed out the good and bad refs, but the bad refs just end up demoted to L2 anyway.

So they should get every referee in a big room and teach them the rules and rescind every yellow yesterday after review. ( All images recorded) so they can be checked against the new directives.

    Note
    It won’t happen.
Based on what I saw yesterday, he absolutely bottled a second yellow for their Kelly. Even to the extent of talking to his captain AND talking to the player himself. Watch it back….. He should have gone…The ref bottled it, yet somehow elected to carry on dishing out yellows like confetti to several other players. And only 6 mins added in the second half. .?? Meh, spoiling a contact sport!
