The Don was still very quick over 50 metres when he left us so his pace when we got rid is a poor argument. His all round game was probably on the downward spiral.

Can’t speak for everywhere in the country but I remember the reaction on here to it was how have Morecambe got Adams and we’re stuck with Bowyer, or words to that effect. It was very much seen as a good pull for them.

When we signed Bobby how would that signing have been viewed with today's social media?

Simple answer is my whole point was around career averages of players, the small margins between them and that there are very few players who over a whole career score better than one in three.

That's why I referenced Billy Sharp. None of the point was to do specifically with city players, I just used two of them to show my point. I could have been comparing Paddy Madden to Kevin Van Veen. Or Tom Pope to Curtis Guthrie.

My point was that very very few strikers in modern football have a better than 30% strike rate and the margins are so small that a 3% difference could lead to one being a legend and the other derided.

Panned. As would the signing of John Hawley. The best strike partnership I've ever seen at City by a long long way.

Different times but the way those two bullied defenders was un real

If people say “Nahki Wells” then most of us would say that’s unrealistic.

Since my question this morning, no one has suggested any alternative players. Happy to put the boot in on Theo Robinson but can’t give us any other names.

I think there were other names and clearly we don’t offer enough (Mullin) or they didn’t fancy it (others).
I’m going out on a limb and assuming that we were banking on a Bogle pay off which didn’t happen.
See what happens come Jan. One of the lads might be off and Bogle or A.N.Other in

I think most recognise in the cold light of day if (and that is an IF) he can capture form from 18 months ago he could do well, but given the hype and build up last night, the big reveal, and his awful season last term, it really wasn’t one to get you buzzing, a head scratcher, a risk, perhaps a desperate buy. I really couldn’t offer you alternate names and there would be little point, sorry. I was personally hoping for someone who would be able to move up the leagues , if we do, and had that potential, but we are where we are.

Best striking partnership was Mills and Blake, don’t forget they were playing 1-2 divisions above too. Their partnership in that game at Wolves was monumentally brilliant.

Same for me, although it was almost a trio over the season with 15 goals from Beagrie. They offered something different , Blake, small, stocky, with that low drilled daisy cutter shot, Mills with the bullet headers. Awesome.
