I'm OK with the Robinson signing given that we clearly couldn't pull in any of our primary targets. At least he's some experience of league football and has a reasonable pedigree of playing higher up the leagues.
When we compare it to the two lads we wasted loan signings on last year, at least for the short term, this looks a better signing.

Nice bit in the T&A quoting Ryan on Theo's commitment. I'm sure we'll all agree it is good to read. Good luck to the lad.

I find it amusing how people stress their disappointment at signing Robinson, but can’t name any other realistic options when challenged.

What an amazing concept, judging a player on his performances rather than before he’s kicked a ball for his new club. Wonder if it will ever catch on?Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Doodle, baggers, 1975citygent and 5 others like this. -

Finally got his own thread, bless him!!
Welcome to the club, Theo. Your record shows you probably won't get 20 goals this season but let's hope you get an important few here and there. Good luck fella.Mighty Bantam, Stoneski, dn14bantam and 5 others like this. -
He is a city player now so let's see what he can do. The thing that bothers me about this signing is how the narrative changed so quickly from the start of last week. At that point Adams was going on about being confident of getting his business done well before the deadline and of getting in one really good signing and the possibility of another. A couple of days ago that changed to only one coming in, that it would likely go down to the wire, and that he wasn't able to bring in who he wanted due to finances. That's a significant change and suggests the goal posts have been moved somewhat in terms of what Adams thought was possible. I hope Robinson turns out to be a cracking signing I really do, but if Adams is not being backed in the way he thought he was going to be backed, we may have a problem brewing. (Before anyone says he was brought in because of his ability to work with a limited budget, I am well aware of that, but he will have known what that budget was and will have targeted players accordingly, so for him to suddenly be told the money isn't there is slightly worrying imo).

Personally, I'm surprised and disappointed that we haven't used the loan market. I've said it before, but the fact that we can provide a high pressure environment in front of 13-15k fans who expect home wins every other week, should be a good selling point for what we can offer by way of a development platform for young players who need exposure to first team football. That, plus our geographical location and proximity to 5 or 6 of the biggest clubs in the country, should mean we have a head start on other clubs at this level and could/should mean we can attract loan players who ordinarily wouldn't be available to league 2 clubs. I can't fathom it.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Click to expand...Mike Hunt, bantamdave41, Petrov and 4 others like this. -

Adam's comment regarding Robinson not being a Angol, I took to mean that he's different in style of play.
I did however, feel that Adam's was very frustrated at not getting a striker in that he wanted.
Robinson may only be required until xmas.
The biggest gamble was bringing in Angol knowing he has a history of injury, and how often have we had players brought to this club that have spent half their contracts sat in the physios room.. do we never learn -

Football isnt the game it was back in Bobby Campbell's day. Back in the day your main striker played 46 matches and did nothing but hand around the box. It's moved on, those games involved 1 sub and a 12 man matchday squad. Rotation wasn't heard of and strikers would regularly get 20 a season as it was their only job.
The days of one player hitting 20 a season, year in and year out are gone (at this level) and it's more common to see even a centre forward have one brilliant season in five then score single figures in subsequent seasons. A one in four strike rate over a career is good now and a one in three is exceptional. Look at as many strikers below international and PL standard as you like and you wont find anyone who scores one in two over a career.
You will struggled to find many who score one in three. The Billy Sharps are like gold dust,
Less goals are scored in general, and if the team scores 60 in a season its often a lot more spread around. Lee mills is regarded as one of our best ever centre forwards yet his career strike rate is 30%. Hanson is derided (by some) and his is 28%. Small margins.
Give Robinson the chance to prove his worth, and if by the end of the season he is a flop then jump on his back. Until then, trust the judgement of Adams and see where it takes us.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... Regardless of the ins and outs its time to get behind him as a City player I guess. I've a feeling he'll be needed more than some think, it's clear Angols contribution was missed and Cook looks isolated on his own.

Every single striker we sign, far too many on here, who by the way have absolutely no solutions themselves, MOAN.
Even Charlie Wyke was two indifferent games from some smarty pants on here, telling us he couldn't do this or that. By the way that's the same player that scored 31 goals for Sunderland last season.
I've no idea if Robinson will be any good - but I'm not going to accept nonsense from fans who class virtually every striker we sign as 'hopeless' - based on a lazy reading of the past recordInspector, Ollylondonbantam, Bronco and 3 others like this. -
