Let's hope, fingers crossed he finds a rich vein of form, scores enough goals, provides assists and his general play contribute to a successful team - he is City player now so we need to back him.

Funny you should say this, I mentioned the very same thing to someone last night about having a league 2 mindset. It was the big difference between the teams last night and I think it's something that annoys Adams. It's not that they can't play at that level, most of that team that played last night have, but it's that speed of thought and awareness of the space around them that allows Lincoln the luxury of playing in a higher league. I think Adams is capable of changing that mindset in the team as a whole but not with a number of players in this squad. Sometimes it just a player or two in pivotal positions, we dont have a league 1 quality finisher or a midfielder the quality of Bridcutt. Give us those two and I think we go up automatically.

Amazing isn't it. Angol's signing was greeted by most in very much the same vein as Robinson, underwhelming. Yet, 3 games in, same fans are saying how much we are going to miss Angol.

Let's hope Robinson brings his Colchester form to us rather than his Port Vale form.

It's like a lot of players in the Football League, some fit at certain clubs better than at other clubs, Eoin Doyle the perfect example for us in recent years

Panned. As would the signing of John Hawley. The best strike partnership I've ever seen at City by a long long way.

Different times but the way those two bullied defenders was un real

You’re right though BL, we’re often too quick to criticise, I hold my hands up there and I hope he can do well for us, and put a few past Vale while he is at it.

    2019/20 Season

John Askey says Theo Robinson is a goalscorer – and has the stats to back that claim.

Robinson’s 11 goals on loan at Colchester from Southend last season were scored at a rate of one every 157 minutes, a statistic that was only beaten in League Two by Eoin Doyle whose 25 goals for Bradford and Swindon were at a rate of one every 120 minutes.

Sparks and his usual BS/quote has worn very thin with me already.

Signing player journey men like Theo Robinson is taking the p!SS.
And Sparks and the rest at the club should be be getting called out for.. shocking stuff.. but nothing new from us!

He's not a very good signing and Adams is clear that he wanted a much better signing but couldn't get one as there is less movement in the transfer market

That doesn't mean we have to make up some rubbish about Adams and Sparks being on different pages come on

Adams probably gave his list of targets to Sparks and the chief scout and this is the player they got he's obviously not elated about it but there is nothing to suggest he doesn't want him

I think they probably expected us to sign someone on big wages or for a transfer fee so a lot of people would fall under that umbrella

Always looked unlikely though and nothing about our transfer activity is surprising or disappointing to me it's what I was led to expect when we approached a manager who is used to operating on a shoestring

Short term signing as a cheap backup, of an L2 journeyman.

Not the stuff to get supporters giddy, especially given all the hype that surrounds transfer deadline day.

Its a shame we dont look a bit longer term, but in all honesty i wasnt expecting much more, anyone decent doesnt want to play in L2 so most there are rough diamonds, lets hope Degsy is good at polishing!

In all honesty, when it comes to strikers at this level, some work and some don't. We've had plenty arrive with lots of fanfare and they've turned out to be awful and plenty arrive with little fanfare who have turned out to be good signings.

If, as Robinson says, his game is based around work rate and bringing other players into the game then we missed that type of player at Leyton Orient. His record at L2 level prior to his move to Port Vale wasn't too bad either. Lets see what Adams can get out of him.

I’m not sure we’ll ever have the perfect window for everyone. Last January was claimed to be one of the better ones but it turned out poor. This one started well but is deemed to be lacking in quality. Let’s hope it turns out ok. As we’ve seen with Salford who probably have one of the richest owners in the football league, money doesn’t guarantee success.

The squad is a sum of its parts and if Robinsons 5 goals result in us getting promotion then nobody will care. He’s not been heralded as a marquee signing, just another experienced body to bring off the bench when needed. Not ideal but no one in this league has signed anyone to make me go wow..

I still think January was a good window, we went from relegation threatened to having a sniff at top 7 before eventually ending mid table. You can only do so much in a January window, we ended where we did due to a shambolic summer which January helped save us from the worst case scenario. Plus Vernam, Cook, Canavan are all regulars now and even Crankshaw gets good minutes off the bench. Not sure why that makes it so poor, you’re never going to turn into a title winning team from a relegation one in that window.

Bradford City are an injury to Cook away from Lavery and Robinson being the strikers.
Both of them have my full support, let’s see what they can do, but both of them average a goal every five games or so over their careers. There’s an awful lot of this season pinned on Cook staying fit.

Robinson is clearly no world-beater, but what on earth do people expect in terms of a signing for a 3rd or 4th choice striker in a league 2 side?

    Get a grip FFS.

Target man type who's presumably not as quick or agile as he was in his younger days. His record actually isn't that bad. Its his spell at Poet Vale that looks to have been notably poor, or at least perceived as poor. Anyway, its done now, lets see what he's got. Just feels like a missed opportunity to push the boat out a little, but none of us know what the market was really like.

    In a word No.

Take last season at port vale out of the equation and the season prior he was outscoring Andy Cook, Padraig Amond, James Hanson, and Lee Novak in the league , and was in the top ten league goalscorers, level on league goals with Vaughan.

we do need to get behind him now, if he can get up to fitness quickly he could well do a job.
