Looks like we need more strength in depth in the groundstaff. Let's just be thankful we have pitch......maybe it just needs a good pre season......hang on?

This rain will do it the world of good. It is coming down nice and softly, just the type of rain required, get some mor3 grass seed on the corners.

Wonder how the pitch is looking with all the water coming down today be a nice test for this new drainage I’m guessing

 

It's not working well..

 

Well, I thought the pitch held up really well yesterday despite the downpour..

A few patches of holding water towards the end of the game but didn't cut up as much as you could have expected.

 

Well the weather this week looks fine no sub zero temperatures so no need for the covers, I dont think they help but are obviously nessesary in sub zero conditions.

 

Yeh, I reckon it would have been abandoned last season given that it rained for about 4 / 5 hours solid...

 

The pitch's improvement is the one thing that 'he who thought he knew football' got right. And even that may have been at least partly caused by the football authorities asking why it was such a frequently poor playing surface. Combined with the fans asking for it at that meeting, although he wasn't renowned for taking much notice of other people's opinions.

Wouldn't surprise me if he turned up somewhere next as a 'sports surface guru'. Telling people that he single handedly turned something that was pretty much a bog for 6 months of the year into the 'Wembley of the North' over just one summer. Complete with a CV full of photoshopped pictures of him on a tractor, or with a spade ordering his minions around and before and after pics.

How's the pitch holding up and how do you think it'll hold out in the coming months?

 

Not looking too bad but hasn't been too tested yet by the weather. Conditions at the Walsall match were terrible and couldn't help but wonder if the match may have been postponed had it been on the old pitch.

Perhaps this is one thing we can say Edin got right!
