Not sure Bradford council would finance a stadium, and I'm not sure I'd want them to as a Bradford council Tax payer there are far more important things the council need to finance IMO.

Attitudes towards pitches have changed so much over the years. The VP pitch is poor compared to how it was last year. But it's like the 18th green at Augusta compared to the pitches that were regularly played on in the top flight and in European competitions in the 70s.
I remember watching West Ham play Eintracht Frankfurt in the Cup Winners Cup at Upton Park when there was standing water all over the place and Keith Robson toe-poked the ball out of a puddle before smashing it past their keeper. Games were regularly played on mud heaps much worse than VP, right up to top level. Lightly snow covered/frozen pitches were marked with dark lines and the game played with an orange ball. And incredibly skilful players like George Best, Rodney Marsh and Glenn Hoddle displayed their fantastic passing and dribbling skills in those conditions (while avoiding the likes of Hunter/Storey/Harris who were attempting to scythe them down from behind at knee height).
Yes, the pitch isn't ideal, but it really isn't that bad in the scheme of things. It shouldn't be used as an excuse for poor passing skills or to justify playing hoofball.

We have had a very mild december, heaven knows how bad the pitch would be following alot of frost or snow or torrential rain.

Very true. I remember us playing Man U on a filthy night in the league cup I think. The pitch was a freezing quagmire. Someone slammed a pass out to Steve Coppell on the right wing. It came at him bouncing off the frozen mud like an Exocet missile but he stuck out a leg and controlled it instantly. Pure, brilliant skill right in front of me. Never forgotten it.

I recalled the comments, searched and found it as post #11 in a thread unsurprisingly called ‘The Pitch’ which started on 17/2/2019. https://bantamtalk.com/index.php?threads/the-pitch.2069/#post-173651

It's probably worth adding post 14 in that thread, just to add a bit of clarity regarding Roger's comments about James Mason:

I believe Rahic alluded to the cost with his hypothetical comment with regards the club being gifted £1m

A bit meaningless unless you know exactly what the guarantee covers. Almost certainly will be exclusions.

Yeah, with the first exclusion probably being that the guarantee will be null and void if football is played on the pitch!

I very much doubt that more like cash in hand and no receipt.

Prioritise any future incoming money to the pitch? Certain we had a thread saying what do people want a plan or just getting by each season when warnock moaned about the training facilities.

Would it be better to have re turfed rather than seeded it. Seeding won't give you the density and never has a chance to mature. it's not drainage as lack of grass.
