Did anyone else think how bad the pitch was today, will only get worse in January/February. Money spent on it close season waste of time again!!

Agree was very bad down the sunwin side was almost impossible to run any distance with the ball,as for the bit where they warm up why dont they peg a sheet of astro turf over it to protect it?

The pitch is disgrace down the main stand side of the pitch running down the drain lines. Surely there is some guarantee on the work carried out

What are the efl rules on those hybrid pitches? I know they obviously don't allow the full plastic ones but wouldn't we have been better putting the money we spent on the drainage on one of those? Especially since it's not only a drainage problem that makes the pitch so poor.

If you remember Rahic said it’s a good pitch or a striker and there was all sorts of nonsense about how it would be impossible to get the machinery in to the stadium to do the job properly. As usual with City they’ll have probably done the cheapest job possible rather than planning for the long term and investing money. Buy cheap, buy twice.

Funnily enough from what I heard, Rahic went for the cheapest option to try appease the fans for a while, without disclosing it was purely a temporary measure, whereas a more permanent maintainable pitch job would have cost 5x more.

Hybrid pitches are allowed but like all of levels the synthetic bit is only allowed to cover 3% of the pitch at most so they really aren't worth the investment if you haven't got the top level drainage and the constant lighting rigs to compliment it. To put in perspective of how little the synthetic fibres can cover with the pitch being approx 103m long it's the equivalent of putting a synthetic surface for the full width of the pitch and just past half way of the 6 yard box long ways.

There's a fundamental problem that needs sorting out, if you get close to it you can how little grass there is. Its worse than what it looks.

That fundamental problem has needed sorting out for my entire life so I'm not expecting an improvement any time soon. I'm not sure it's capable of being sorted out.

I dunno, i agree its never been a bowling green but the last few years have seen the grass dying off in big lines, sat high in the kop its really noticeable. Years ago i'd always expect the inevitable goal mouths and centre circle deteriorating but this is weird. I guess the ball doesn't spend much time on the ground this season so its not as much as a relevance.

So can the pitch be fixed permanently if money spent and done properly or is it an impossible task.
If the latter then maybe it’s time to concede that if we want to progress up the leagues then a new stadium is a must.

I might have thought the lack of natural light in recent times could have had something to do with it but it was much the same when it was much more open. I dunno either. Being at the bottom of a hill though water will be continuously moving down underground so perhaps that's a factor. But being built on an old quarry you'd think the water would drain well. Obviously not.

I'm certainly no expert. Once lived in a house with a long, thin back lawn with a dip in the middle which filled up and flooded whenever it rained. Took advice, dug a long trench across it, put a drainage pipe in, filled it with the right hardcore and put the turf back on top. Worked for a couple of weeks then just clogged up with clayey soil and was as bad as ever.

Bradford needs a sporting stadium suitable for use by us and the Bulls and it should be funded by the council.
I’d prefer it not to be at Odsal but where else could it be?
A central location near to one of the train stations would be my choice. Apperley Bridge is too far from the motorway and Low Moor is too close to dog bothering terratory.

I posted pics in June and commented about the bare looking areas, not sure if these are the same areas causing concern now.
