Seen players on here rumoured. Lyle Taylor, Matt Crooks, Matt Godden Billy Kee (dodged a bullet there). I remember sneering fans on here saying weren't good enough lol. Taylor and Crooks would walk into our team last 2/3 years.

Given he chose to retire rather than play for us I'm pretty sure it was wise of him to keep that to himself lol

 

You've forgotten Kieffer Moore we had a serious bid for him turned down we were told.

 

Andy Townsend and Keith Curle were the targets Terry Dolan wanted. If we hadn't got promoted we would have been able to sell them on. Both went on to have very good careers. We ended up signing Micky Kennedy, who although a good player and leader (and pipe smoker!), had a back problem at the time that hindered his movement.

 

If only... Kennedy was good, and how we could have used someone like him lately! Swapping him for Quinn was another good move, as well as then making a profit on the whole sequence when selling Quinn on to WHU. SOmetimes I get rather nostalgic for those transfer-rich days!

Steven hunt was a done deal until he got a better offer at the last minute and he blow us out.

 

Believe he landed at Leeds/Bradford off the Dublin flight to meet and sign for us , checked his phone them promplty got a taxi to Leeds station for a train to London and sign for someone else darn sarf

 

There was a tail about danny murphy , signing and he came to watch us in a cup game i think it was barnsley at home,we were terrible that night .That was the end of that .

 

Remember peter beardsley turned us down to join bolton after he left newcastle and thomas brolin ,turned us down when he was at leeds .

 

I remember a game at Carlisle I believe an FA Cup game when Beardsley had just started and he ran the show for Carlisle scoring a couple ?.
I think we missed a bullet with Brolin.
