If what Bower says there is true, albeit it is The Sun then he was realistic wasn't he? When he moved from Halifax to Fleetwood I don't think the numbers were huge at all. We used to gamble with budgets every year under ML/JR didn't we? £150k ish wouldn't of been too outlandish had we any ambition at all.Sergio Pinto III likes this. -

Lee Gregory. Out of our price bracket when he did eventually leave but was playing really well long before he got his move. Watched him a lot on BT sport when they covered non league (Don't know if they still do) and he was far too good for that level.

Bradley Dack. Story was he wanted to join City but chutney chops Rahic wouldn’t pay him enough.
Paul Robinson, apparently was going to sign when Clarke and Walsh were injured, Worsnop was it froze and Fat Nev played. Leeds said he couldn’t play in the game against them.BradfordBanter likes this. -

Quotation from Denis Law's autobiography " The King"- " A week after my shabby performance, on 9th March, we were soundly beaten by Leeds, and I, along with a few other big-name stars, found myself out of the side and in crisis. Not only was I playing for the reserves, but Saunders, it transpired , had agreed to sell me to a Fourth Division side, Bradford City. I would have retired there and then, but the World Cup was only a few weeks away and I was determined to regain my place in the ( Manchester) City team...………"
Funnily enough I sat next to Denis Law at a Sportsmans Lunch in the 90's that the company I worked for had sponsored and we talked about Bradford City but he never mentioned the signing story.BradfordBanter likes this.
