If he isnt going to invest in a striker, he quickly needs to invest in a plan B

 

He did say on the radio he was looking for another player up top.

 

Woah, what's with the panic everyone? I'm not sure if you've all been asleep but McCall has already stated we need at least another forward player, particularly one with pace.

In view of that nobody has identified anything new so I guess we are all in agreement. I appreciate it's always better to have the team fully sorted before the season kicks off but McCall has explained already he's not just going to sign anyone. They need to be the right player.

He could sign somebody like Gareth Grant tomorrow. He had pace but was utter rubbish. If it means we have to wait a week or two more to get a decent player for our level then I'm prepared to wait.

 

I think some of the criticism of the front two is a little harsh. Indeed, Novak should score first half - no argument there. That said for the first 35-40 mins I thought they were industrious without being outstanding. Second half they were mostly anonymous and actually I think Novak should have made way for Donaldson who sparked a bit of life back into the attack.

As @Dratsab taf hints, in the current absence of this striker we all know we need - what’s plan B? DMH had a couple of small moments but was more effective in his support back than forward. There were a few around the front two who had good moments but after 30 mins there was little to offer. Ismail looked as though he hadn’t woken yet today! Up to all those asked to play in an advancing role to step up rather point the finger at just the front two IMO.

 

Didn't Novak have a goal disallowed and two attempts cleared off the line?

 

The simple truth is that none of Novak, Donaldson and Guthrie are good enough and all three are contracted for this season. Unless that changes it's hard to see how we'll get anywhere.

 

.....to add, Jevani Brown (Colchester no.10) looks exactly the kind of player I would love to have playing for us. Thought he looked a constant threat.

 

He missed one, arguably two, sitters and scored an offside goal. His overall game was dreadful.

 

He's got to nail that first half chance if we're going to trouble the front three positions in the table, he missed an equally easy chance against Bolton. Should really have 3 from 2 now not 1 from 2.

 

Did any of our strikers actually win a header from any corner we had today?

 

nothing easier for a defender than a forward who plays everything infront, drops deeper and deeper to try get on the ball due to poor service and constantly plays with their back to goal.. unfortunately we have 3 of those.

 

Our corners are dreadful.

I remember after one of the friendlies Stuart saying we need to practice our free kicks and corners as we hadn't done any work on them well it looks like he forgot to me because we have zero threat. Can we just put the ball in the middle of the box? It's not that hard really.

 

Our set pieces have been poor since the restart, it’s hard to tell if we even practice them in training.

 

Decent observation. The corners need a lot of work!

 

When you say dreadful what do you mean?

 

So what is poor about them? The delivery or players not attacking the ball?Or both?

 

I mean that they're not creating chances or being hit into an area where we may create chances or those expecting the ball don't seem to know where it is coming to.

It's division two, I'm fully expect some misses and errors and general mess ups! Just looking like we've practised some corners would be great!

 

Disagree. Not once today did we even look like winning a header at a corner. Clarke was knocking them into and around the 6 yard box area and we were no where to be seen.

Clinical striker required pronto.

 

We replaced Doyle and Vaughan is Jan with Novak and Guthrie. Whoever decided on that needs sacking.

When will people understand Rhodes needs to leave ASAP. For the love of Bradford City - Leave!
