I think its frustration rather than out and out criticism, as you say we could/should have gone in at half time at least 1 - 0 up Stuart will get it right, at least we kept the ball on the green most of the time.

 

Exactly the constant whinging about Vaughan does not make any difference to having pace in the side, we are where we are still time to bring players in although it would have been better to have our fill squad together a few weeks ago.
Overall not a great performance against a side that made the play offs last season but hardly a disaster.

Simple fact is, we've got three strikers in Novak, Guthrie and Donaldson, who all have the same skill set. When Donaldson came on, I am not sure what role he thought he had to play. There was one instance, where the ball was booted up to him in the centre circle, and with no challenge coming in, he opted to flick the ball on, instead of taking it down on his chest/knees/foot and holding up the play. His flick on went to no one, because Novak had come deep to get the ball.
DMH is terrible. I'd say maybe one pass he did led to something (Novaks miss). Apart from that, they just stood off him and let him run out of space. Billy Clarke did the same on the other side, but kept cutting inside and running into traffic. Guthrie had good feet, but his awareness isn't good. If he wants to get the ball, then he has to make runs.

If we haven't got a new striker by next week, I'm starting to question if we'll get one at all. I don't know what more is needed to highlight that we're not going to score many goals with these two/three up front.

 

Two testing games coming up Lincoln at home then Forest Green Rovers away they will give us a bit more insight to the team, I thought first half we were the better team but could not put our chances away, where have we heard that before.

 

Totally agree. Thought we were composed, and playing some nice football - until Novak missed that chance. Just watched it on the Football League show, and that second bite he got, was easier to score than miss. Seemed to have swung his entire leg at it, and ended up scuffing the ball with the outside of his boot. Total game changer that one. Where have we heard that before too?

 

Their left back offered him outside every time after the first 20 mins and he didnt take it once.He is short of both confidence and pace of the type that makes a difference. The left back was excellent and had DMH in his pocket. Sorry but Dylan is not first choice material at this level.

 

I can't be too mad with Novak, Guthrie or even Donaldson. They're all decent 2nd strikers and kinda do okay in that sort of role.

It's not their fault that they're being pushed into the role of main goalscorers which they clearly can't do.

 

So instead of having one striker whose strengths we dont play to, we have now progressed to 3?

 

And people say we lack ambition.

 

Great January transfer window, we really are the gift that keeps on giving.

 

See Accrington Stanley seemed to have signed a cracking forward. Got him from Stockport County, we never seem to be aware these players are around, don't we look?.

 

Our dealings in January have left us with what we currently have, infact the whole mismanagement with Vaughan was to blame for our current predicament.

 

They are not in league 2 are they? How do you know we haven't enquired after him?
And whats cracking about him-whoever he is?

 

We're going to look even more stupid if this elusive striker, who we've waited months to sign, turns out to be shit.

Why do we urgently need a striker?

You know that in Clarke, Novak, Guthrie and Donaldson we have a mean forward line up with pace....Relax everyone!
