Woah, what's with the panic everyone? I'm not sure if you've all been asleep but McCall has already stated we need at least another forward player, particularly one with pace.

In view of that nobody has identified anything new so I guess we are all in agreement. I appreciate it's always better to have the team fully sorted before the season kicks off but McCall has explained already he's not just going to sign anyone. They need to be the right player.

He could sign somebody like Gareth Grant tomorrow. He had pace but was utter rubbish. If it means we have to wait a week or two more to get a decent player for our level then I'm prepared to wait.

 

works better if you have full subscription too. at a guess, we'll be working off the free trial using multiple different email accounts giving access to 20% of data available. you know, because of the wage cap and deficit.

 

Even if Vaughan has stayed we would still need a pacey striker who runs in behind. Vaughan was just another battler who liked to challenge for long balls and throw himself about.

We’ve needed a different type of striker for ages, losing Vaughan wasn’t the catalyst for us needing to bring in another striker. All I can hope is that we are waiting to see who is available later in the window and might be willing (desperate) to join us on whatever deal we are offering (assume any targets are currently too expensive)

 

That's the annoying thing we keep hearing we have pace with regards DMH, if he's so pacey and could worry defenders maybe play him off Guthrie or Donaldson, one thing for sure a wing back he ain't IMO.

 

Two testing games coming up Lincoln at home then Forest Green Rovers away they will give us a bit more insight to the team, I thought first half we were the better team but could not put our chances away, where have we heard that before.

It isnt just the front areas we lack pace, DMH did nothing attacking wise against bramall their left back, we need a right back/wingback with pace and a striker with pace or were gonna be mid table. Must say reece staunton did very well

 

Known since vaughan went.

Done nothing too busy moaning about budget capping. We haven't even spent current cap yet.

 

Worse? Depends who Conlon paired up with.

Novak and Guthrie are too similar. We've had success in the past with a tall striker and a smaller pacey striker - Hanson/Wells, Mills/Blake spring to mind. Novak is very, very slow. Guthrie actually looks to have decent feet for a big man, but that's about it. Both their movement is terrible. Shouldn't have been offside on those two occasions when we could have scored.

The other problem, is when we take Guthrie or Novak off for Donno, then it's just the same formulae up front.

HAVE to bring in a striker with pace. Blindingly obvious.

Did any of our strikers actually win a header from any corner we had today?

 

nothing easier for a defender than a forward who plays everything infront, drops deeper and deeper to try get on the ball due to poor service and constantly plays with their back to goal.. unfortunately we have 3 of those.

 

Our corners are dreadful.

I remember after one of the friendlies Stuart saying we need to practice our free kicks and corners as we hadn't done any work on them well it looks like he forgot to me because we have zero threat. Can we just put the ball in the middle of the box? It's not that hard really.

 

Disagree. Not once today did we even look like winning a header at a corner. Clarke was knocking them into and around the 6 yard box area and we were no where to be seen.

 

Our scouting is McCall with his Ipad now.

When you brake this club down it's a tin pot club. I believe we should have a Sporting Director but if no to that then at least a good recruitment and scouting network.

We all knew Novak and Guthrie are not good enough. So 9 months later we have them leading the line. It's shocking.
