A few small points to consider:
    • Which quality player wants to come to a side which is in a relegation battle. Not many players will want to have a relegation on their playing history.
    • Money. We are reportedly £2 million in debt, so the amount available to attract players will not be great.
    • Blackpool and Coventry both clubs ‘in trouble’ quickly gained promotion from League 2. Add Doncaster to that and decline is not inevitable. Even Portsmouth spent a fair chunk down there and where were Luton Town two seasons ago.
Not saying we are not in a bad place, but things need to have balance and perspective.

I doubt most players give a toss what the fans think. Do you think Riley. Patrick and Wright are sat at home worrying fans think they’re a waste of space? Does Chicksen worry everybody knows he’s shit? No. The majority of players in my opinion don’t give a shit about the fans, yeah when they’re winning they’re everybody’s mates and they put the usual stuff on Twitter but they only do the social media stuff because the club tells them to. It’s a job for them. Nothing more nothing less, they know if they leave City in June they’ll be playing somewhere else in August. There is always a manager who had an ego that says he can succeed where others have failed and turn a turd in to a diamond.

We’d have gone above Walsall. We’d be on 36 they’d be on 35

Sorry my mistake. I was just looking at Oxford in 20th, forgetting the 3 points Walsall gained on us would have been reversed if we had have beaten them

Sure. And you maybe right, But for every positive there are a few negatives. Notts County came within an ace of the play off finals, look where they are now, Sunderland were going to bounce straight back, to the PL and to the Championship. And for all I criticise others for their ITK bollocks, two people who do know have told me relegation will hurt badly, one that they fear for the future in League 2.

The wrong manager and more piss poor recruitment could have serious consequences. I’m not saying Hopkin isn’t the right man, but we need to think very very carefully about the summer

It's true though @Onside@Onside, there is nobody in that squad that you can call a true City player who really 100% cares about our club.

I liked what mk dons did. Went out and got a very experienced league two manager and although they haven’t ripped up any trees they are at least well up there and look to be building something. They will be in a similar position to us with players who they don’t necessarily want on decent money for league two but they appear to be getting on with it

That’s what Cov did in League 2, decent lower league manager in Robins, some good young players of their own and some older loans. Get them playing as a team who want to be there.
Might all be pointless if they can’t sort out where they will play next season though.

Yeah saw that with Coventry, could be booted out of league.

Every team will want to beat us next season, with no disrespect to the other sides in that league we will be one of the biggest down there with our attendances and it’s such a tough league to get out of.

We need that experience in that league. Would it be such a big ask to tempt Robins from Coventry? Surely we are less of a basket case than them

Does he have the club at heart or did he want to come back for family reasons? I'm not sure he would have wanted to come back if he had moved his family and settled down south.

On the flip side, we could and should have won yesterday and everyone would have been ecstatic.
However, the next 3 games are hard and we could, probably should lose them all.
Where would we be in the table then? Probably back in the bottom 4 feeling depressed again

Without a doubt there is the next 3 games that will be tough, given our record against sides in the top 10.

However win yesterday we would have dragged Walsall further into the more. We would be on 36 points and we could have picked up maybe two battling draws out of our next 3 and we would still be well in touch. Now we are at the stage where we need probably a couple of wins and a draw from our next 4 to get back in touch again. Not gonna happen

Even if we had won yesterday, anyone there must have seen just how poor we were when they went to 10 men? A win would have masked over a poor, clueless performance.

It is hard to recruit 'quality' players half way through the season, to a team which is in danger of relegation, with a reduced budget.

There will need to be a 'big sell' to get quality players from May onwards.

As well as Coventry think about Blackpool, who are in major turmoil, with owners absolutely loathed by most of their fans. They had only about 5,000 at the Play Off final in2017, yet got promoted back to League 1!

I was there and I disagree with you. I think we attacked with speed and purpose with no finish.
Payne and Ball should hang their heads in shame for those catalogue of guilt edge chances missed.
The main problem however was at the back. Walsall looked as if they’d score everytime they attacked, which they did 3 times

I just saw it so differently. This City teams best form of defence is attack, in that our defence is so frail there’s always a chance we will concede. On Saturday we desperately needed another goal.

At 1-0 against 10 men of a team with the worst current form in the league that game there was there for the taking in the first half. Go 2-0 in at half time it’s a whole different game and second half. There confidence will have been super low and there for the taking. Instead our intensity at 1-0 was low. The amount of time the ball rolled from Chicksen along the back four to the other wing was too much. Butterfield regularly has the ball and the four ‘front men’ ahead of him offered little movement. That equaliser was coming before it actually came. IMO we did nothing to manage that game at 1-0 and I don’t care how many people want to blame Hopkin, if those 11 players on the pitch can’t take responsibility to see a game out when it’s there for the taking in that scenario, then how do they justify their shirt?
