I'll come back to a direct quote from Stefan Rupp "I was aware from the very start that a football club doesn't give you a great return on investment"

He says this (word for word) somewhere in The Matter of Heart film which you can look up.

Why then would every single decision he makes be influenced by protecting an investment he knew he probably wouldn't get back in the first place?

Fair points and I suspect No.6 is the key one with Bolger. Secure a loan for O'Connor, cheaper than signing Bolger and it frees up funds for Payne maybe?

The transfer window is a beast that us fans will never truly appreciate I don't think. I thought the Sunderland Netflix documentary was an interesting, albeit scaled back, insight into the stresses and moving process that is deadline day. Ross McCormack came available to Sunderland at the 11th hour but the price was way out of Sunderland's budget so it didn't happen - if it reached the press that Sunderland had the opportunity to sign a much needed striker then fans become frustrated but don't appreciate the ongoing considerations behind the scenes. And that's just one day of it.

The good thing is that Stefan has stepped up and secured a player that both the manager and fans want. Hopefully that now sets out what Hopkin has left to secure the other players required for the squad.

Yeah but there's buying an Acer for £300 or a Dell for £2000......we didn't have to up our contribution to Payne's wages and I don't think, given the mess Edin left us in, many would have complained if Stefan didn't up them. Would have been perfectly understandable.

Plenty of people don't live in the district they work but are still committed to their job. I don't see why this should be any different for a football player.

Not forgetting Stefan's comment "my investment is worth the risk".

If we're still in league one (I'm confident we will be) come the end of the season, the closed season that will be the test for Stefan with regards monies available for quality players.

Some are one step away from blowing him off. I mean, a thank you thread to the chairman, the worlds gone mad.

I think it creates more of a bond between the fans and the players. Managers are big fans of it, I remember PP making a big thing about it, I think it was when McLean signed for us

History repeating it's self, Richmond and the Rhodes family, didn't Geoff do deals without the consent of the main financiers ?.

No it hasn’t well not by me. However, it has been a difficult time for everyone concerned or involved with our club. I will applaud Stefan for what he has done so far since Rahic has left. It has been a salutary and very expensive lesson for him. He invested his money in our club without knowing diddly squat about running a football club, he left that side of things to Rahic, and now he knows that he was best left to his computer game. Should he have twigged sooner? Absolutely, but none of us walk through this life without making mistakes. He is now rectifying them as best he can.

Not at all, I believe Geoff left the football side to the manager although there was talk of a fall out with Jewell after the West Ham debacle, what I'm suggesting is Geoff made signings without the full knowledge of Dr Rhodes, and if so then both David and Julian can be held in the same situation as Stefan is, bet you'd never hear me supporting either co-owner.

I honestly believe Stefan has been hood winked by Edin, Edin just told him things he wanted to hear, although I did criticised Stefan at the time for not at the very least looking at the league table and possibly reading reports with regards our performances.
I believe Stefan only took more interest when he had meetings with the likes of John Dewhirst and got the real information of where Edin was taking our club and the unrest it was causing with possible fans boycotts and fly byes.

I would guess at it being because life with Rahic in charge was so depressing.

According to Paul Jewell Richmond interfered when Cadete was signed. He also produced training notes on how to play against Manchester United( source the interview in Jason Mcewan's excellent book " Who We Are")

I guess Mr Rupp deserves a bit more time to show his true colors let's hope he is an entirely different kettle of fish to Mr Rahic
Our team is no stronger now than what it was before the transfer window opened although the team are playing better
We will have a better idea of his intentions at the end of January
when we are able to judge the "New" Signings
