Erm, the same reason he’s been telling us that Payne was as good as gone? He knows less than @Ricky and the poster on the CA.

 

I think Stefan deserves a round of applause, he has used his financial influence to get this over the line. Whether he noticed Payne being influential in games or whether it was DH who influenced him doesn’t matter, he did what was required, and no doubt Julian talked him through how to handle these type of deals, so well done.

I think there has been interest in Jack from other clubs, let’s be honest who wouldn’t want him to be part of their team. It wasn’t just Parker, it was being touted all over the football media.

Great news about Payne & O’Brien staying and a huge thank you to Stefan for funding the Payne deal. I don’t know what his wages are, probably a good bit more than we normally pay but I doubt it’s near the £15k pw some have touted. Whatever it is though cheers Stefan for stumping up.

I honestly think Payne staying will be the difference between us staying up and going down.

All clubs flower things up somewhat to court a little more of fans favour, however I've no doubt a lot of effort was put into keeping JP and LO'B with us until summer.

Embarrassing thread once again. Its quite clear he needs us to stay in the league if he is going to sell us and if we lose Payne who contributes in some form to the majority of our gaols then the chance of that is slim to non.

January isn't done yet. If I were you I would hold back from criticising Rupp until 01 February when we all will see how far he has "stepped up".

 

Rupp doesn't need any credit for acknowledging Payne is a key component in our survival quest, but he DOES deserve a lot of credit for actually managing to keep him here - Barnsley's bid for Jack was common knowledge, so to manage to convince Huddersfield to keep him here, at a struggling L1 club, is massive. Oxford couldn't do it last year; they weren't even contending with transfer bids.

Credit where credit is due on this one; it's a fantastic piece of work, no matter how obvious or belated the idea was in principle.

Regarding Bolger in other news, it's been reported he's set to opt for Lincoln instead of us. We can't compete with Lincoln.
