Doyle
McMahon Burke Davies Meredith
Marshall Jones Cullen Thompson
Wells Hanson
Probably something along these lines. G.Thompson very underrated. McMahon gets nod over Darby for his set-pieces and WUM ability! No question about the front two.
I'd have Peter Thorne in there, but can't remember years top of my head.

Only tricky positions were out wide and in net for me. Harsh to not include Reid, Thompson or Steady up front but Hanson’s goal at Villa Park seals it for him.River_City_Bantam likes this. -

Prefer Wyke to Hanson as a player but Hanson contributed more over the ten years. Depends on your own criteria.

I think it would be diffucult to give any City player less than a 7 that afternoon, and I agree Stead possibly a 9.Flying Duck likes this. -
I get why some have Hanson in there and I dont have a problem with it Dave. Not for me though.
When I think of the 'decade teams' we could have pieced together in the 90s and 00s, even the 80s, it's a stark reminder of how soul destroying the last decade has generally been. Well, I say decade, I really mean about 18 years. The youth of today have been served up a mountain of sh*t.Stop hovering to collapse... Click to collapse... Hover to expand... For me the only debates are Burke/McArdle and Wyke/Hanson. Both of the alternatives are technically better players but the ones actually in the first 11 better represent the iconic City team of this decade IMO.Andy10 likes this. -

Surely barring maybe the first two years of the 00s, this decade has been much more successful and much better to watch?Flying Duck likes this. -
A team of the 00's would have the likes of Carbone in it. He could play the 10's team on his own.
I'm not saying the 00's were great. Far from it. We spent most of it dropping like a stone and nearly going out of business. But being average in the championship was better than being average in League 2. And being shit in the championship was better than being worse than shit in League 1.
What I wouldn't give for someone with the money and vision to revolutionise this club and give it a prolonged period of growth and enjoyment like so many other clubs from smaller provincial towns have had.Stop hovering to collapse... My own view is a generation from now football will have generated to big city football, our neighbours to the east will be playing top flight football with a stadium to match while our structure will lead us to league 1 but with reduced crowds due to the demographic and the growth of top flight football.Bronco likes this. -
