Jon Stead definitely wasn't poor, but no chance does he edge out Hanson in team of the decade.

Davies for me is absolutely first name on the team sheet, Jones second.

Depends on the criteria. Based on contribution over the decade, then yeah, Hanson would be in over Stead. But I've gone purely with who I think was the better player and able to perform to a higher level when at their best. That was Stead. His performance at Chelsea was phenomenal

Fair enough, good post, sound reasoning.

Andy Halliday was phenomenal at Chelsea also. I'd say the whole team was. He doesn't and shouldn't get a look in, but then you acknowledge that when he discuss individual contributions, with Hanson contributing more.

I think was a good forward, but failed to perform in the league the way he performed in a few cup games. Hanson was more consistent AND he arguably achieved more in his best season than Stead in his.

I think on the balance of performances overall, I would pick Hanson over Stead. Different types of performances admittedly.

Prefer Wyke to Hanson as a player but Hanson contributed more over the ten years. Depends on your own criteria.

Yet John Terry pointed out Hanson's contribution on the day and said he d have loved to have played against him that afternoon.
I think it would be diffucult to give any City player less than a 7 that afternoon, and I agree Stead possibly a 9.

Ah yeah. The hardest game John Terry never had....

I get why some have Hanson in there and I dont have a problem with it Dave. Not for me though.

When I think of the 'decade teams' we could have pieced together in the 90s and 00s, even the 80s, it's a stark reminder of how soul destroying the last decade has generally been. Well, I say decade, I really mean about 18 years. The youth of today have been served up a mountain of sh*t.

Yeah the club has had some really good standout loanees. Whats wrong with that exactly?

Nothing as such. Weve had way more bad ones though.

Itd be interesting to see how many other teams in leagues 1 and 2, would have half their side made up of loanees when talking about team of the decade. I bet it's not too many.

Love the reply......Terry did say it though honest :https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/11788557.terry-lauds-hanson-for-leaving-chelsea-black-and-blues/

Of course as fans we will all have different opinions, without doubt Stead was an inspiration at Stamford Bridge on the day and he certainly had a good pedigree playing the vast majority of his career in the top two division's.
Is your last comment is any more relevant to the youth of today than what many have seen in the past, it's been pretty sh!t for possibly 50 of the 60+ years during my time, unfortunately that's what you get following your home town club, you sometime wish you'd been born in Liverpool, Manchester,Birmingham or London.

I think Stead himself said the Chelsea game was his best ever performance, @Rogered Tart@Rogered Tart was being miserly with a 10.

    I think its this one.

For me the only debates are Burke/McArdle and Wyke/Hanson. Both of the alternatives are technically better players but the ones actually in the first 11 better represent the iconic City team of this decade IMO.

Like that, maybe Reid for Reach and Hanson for Stead, maybe just done it over longer periods and part of the 2013 squad....
