T Mac has to be in there as well...if we had anybody as 'professional' at game management these days we would be doing better....

 

Surely barring maybe the first two years of the 00s, this decade has been much more successful and much better to watch?

Not by me mate mine and others opinions anti and pro of St James have been covered several times, you little tinker.

 

A team of the 00's would have the likes of Carbone in it. He could play the 10's team on his own.

I'm not saying the 00's were great. Far from it. We spent most of it dropping like a stone and nearly going out of business. But being average in the championship was better than being average in League 2. And being shit in the championship was better than being worse than shit in League 1.

What I wouldn't give for someone with the money and vision to revolutionise this club and give it a prolonged period of growth and enjoyment like so many other clubs from smaller provincial towns have had.

 

Carbone should never have been near a club like ours, it was only because BFG went batshit crazy with the wages. Worth it though to see that sort of class at VP. I'm thinking the same as you though, i'd love to see a BFG come riding up to the VP gates in his/hers Bentley with an unlimited credit card. But then i'm pretty sure, like the Bulls, times like the late nineties will be a distant memory and the path of both clubs since those halcyon days has a very familiar feel to it. Not that i'd change either. What both had in common was a visionary at the forefront of the project.
My own view is a generation from now football will have generated to big city football, our neighbours to the east will be playing top flight football with a stadium to match while our structure will lead us to league 1 but with reduced crowds due to the demographic and the growth of top flight football.

 

We can but dream mate.

He also named his subs bench

Looks he tried to employ the 'no loans' rule by excluding Pickford from his top two City keepers, but let Cullen in... maybe because he had two seasons?

 

That's basically what I did -- I really wanted to stick with our own players, but Cullen's two good seasons won me over.

I never really raved over Cullen like most. I felt he had it in him to be more of a threat going forward, which doesn't mean I didn't rate him as probably or best player. However, I have to say that for a loan player he really felt like one of ours.

 

That was my team apart from I included Wyke. No arguments about him not getting in though.
