How is the value of a football club actually calculated? I doubt that very few outside of those at the pinnacle of the Prem ever make substantial profits. Some clubs obviously have more assets than City, such as a ground. But if you take what Rupp paid for the club out of the equation. What, realistically is this club worth? (and you can detail how you arrived at that figure if you can.)

Was what Rupp paid for the club commensurate with where we were at that point in time? Or, was one of the reasons we ended up with SR/ER because the price paid was a long way north of what JR/ML thought they could reasonably ask for. Did they take the money and run. Despite them frequently telling supporters that City would only ever be sold to people who would take the club further than they ever could. The club undoubtedly enjoyed some brilliant times under the former owners. But the longer this spell in the doldrums continues under Rupp, the more the former owners reputation is sullied in my opinion.

It was 9%. Market rate for commercial back then was about 8%. He took back six years interest at 9% a year so about 54% over what he lent us. He also made a big profit on his initial investment.

I remember an interview with him asking why he hadn't invested during administration one, he laughed and said I'm not that stupid.

Can not imagine a company that had had two administrations and had no collateral would have got a loan at market rate

As with all things the value is decided by what someone is willing to actually pay

More an issue that it was a new company with no or little history. The ones that went into administration no longer existed.

I completely get what you're saying. But I'm sure there'll be some method used when calculating what a business is worth, even if it's just a ball park number.

If Rupp believes the club's worth considerably more than what even an interested City fan, or group of City fans, is willing to pay. Then we'll be stuck with him until god knows when. I don't think he should be expected to walk away with virtually nothing, but he also needs to comprehend that his own mismanagement has significantly reduced the value of his investment. So he can't expect to receive anything like what he originally paid. I'm just interested in what a reasonable price for Bradford City could currently be?

How much is it worth if the fans were to boycott?

Further regression and it could become a possibility that he either walks away with nothing or decides to cut his losses, sell up and run.

If Rupp is wanting anywhere near his money back then Rupp will have to put some money down to make us more attractive..............

I think any lender would look into the history of the club as well as the current company especially as some of the owners were still the same

But whichever way they would have struggled to get a loan at market rate

Maybe he doesn't give a turd about this club he just likes the idea of having a football club in his portfolio

Wouldn't surprise me if it's just an ego trip now

if a boycott put us into considerable losses he could put the club into admin, well within his rights to so.

Rupp then becomes the loser. The Administrator takes control with effective ownership of the club, reduces the cost base, arranges a CVA with its creditors and then sells the club to a new owner for whatever can be negotiated to pay off the losses. The current owner receives zilch. Meanwhile the EFL slaps a 12 point deduction on the club just to add to the club's problems.

    Great suggestion!

Whether it is a good suggestion or not is irrelevant... Like I said if he wanted to do so he could. never said he should...
cut the sarcasm, even worse when its a mod speaking like that.

if he was incredibly spiteful and wanted to punish the fans he could do so. we all know he doesn't have the clubs best interests at heart.

if he had any debt in the club it would reduce it massively.

keyword here is IF he is fully within his rights to do what I said. if the club loses money and thus incurs debts and prospective owners don't want to handle the debt it would be his only option.

Possibly. Or he could sell up and actually recoup a little bit of his money.

If I was a businessman I know which scenario I'd prefer.
