Depends on the business. I don't think spoons customers would bat an eyelid if Tim Martin drew millions out as long as the prices didnt go up.

I would argue football clubs are different to regular businesses insofar the 'customers' take a hostile view of owners drawing excessive amounts of money from the club, especially if the club is struggling to meet its on field objectives and achieve success.

Even if the owners are acting within the law, their actions can still be viewed as unethical, create negative PR and damage the business' long term viability and confidence amongst the fans.

€25k p/m would pay the wages for 5 or 6 top players at this level.
We'd almost certainly be gunning for the autos and the rewards for promotion would offset any loss in 'management fees'.

If Lawn had been paying himself £300k p/a whilst the club was struggling, the fans would have gone ballistic and rightly so.
The settling of the loan was seen as a just reward because the club had achieved it short term objectives and turned a profit.
Granted there was an element of luck with the cup runs, but no one begrudged him the 9% return.
I don't think even Edin wasn't brazen enough to pay himself €300k p/a (correct me if i'm wrong).
Thats kind of the point i was making.

Football club 'customers' are more emotionally invested in the product.
Therefore they get angry if the product is shite whilst owners line their own pockets.

They view themselves as patrons and the owners as custodians.

25k per month = 6k per week, might get you 3 unlikely to be better than what we have...

I think you are right in terms of affording three.

But surely we can find three footballers capable of improving this team, who are happy to earn circa 100k pa??

Was going to post something similar myself. If you don’t want to debate and comment then leave the forum. there was no personal attacks it was people disagreeing about the way the club is being run. That’s all. We are all entitled to our opinion when we have put money into this club year after year in one way or another.

I don't know but i was under the impression that the interest on the loan was added to the balance and that the full debt was settled when city got promoted in 2013.
I'm a layman so i'm not sure what the exact arrangement was so i may be wrong.
I'm not sure if he was drawing a regular income from the club.

Mark lawn gave us a loan way below any market rate of interest which helped to give us some good years. It was paid back early so he gained little the fans gained a lot. Win win

Was just looking at Companies House to see who are presently on the board and notice there are only 2 main board Directors who are

    Stefan Rupp and Alan Biggin

What’s also interesting is the list of other Main Board Directors who have been listed at Companies House dating back to 2004

    Stefan Rupp
    Alan Biggin
    Edin Rahic
    Mark Lawn
    James Mason
    Julian Rhodes
    Stephen Longbottom
    Robert Ham
    James Brown
    David Bosomworth

A few months ago I was complaining about the year on year regression under Rupp, and the fact we nearly got relegated last year. It is not good enough based on what we were promised and told when he bought the club. In fact to my mind it's a disgrace.
