Personally, I think we just like making excuses to give ourselves a pass.

 

My lad has a season ticket but went to his first game in two months against Colchester due to work commitments. We used to go to every game at home and most away. He was completely ambivalent to it all, its sad seeing how he's become apathetic while not even being in a position to watch. With the owner having no real ambition other than to not put any money in this sentiment has transfered itself to the terraces. A league where the entertainment is generally lacking due to poor football standards and no games of note to get remotely excited about. I'm definitely in the wait till the end of the season camp before I decide if I buy another. At the moment it's just not worth the hassle.

 

I'm a bit late to the party but having just read wetherbywhaler's comments from last week, how out of touch is he with us plebs if he's taking offence at very fair and balanced criticism of the shitshow presided over by herr Rupp? Making the excuse that Rupp has been unable to come to Bradford due the pandemic is utter bollocks. I managed to have a holiday in Greece and travel to the USA for family reasons when Brits weren't even allowed there. I had my visa cancelled the morning of my flight to JFK so applied and paid for another one. I had to negotiate with US Homeland Sec officers based at Heathrow and give them valid reasons and proof for travel. I paid for my Covid tests. It was pretty fecking easy all things considered. I earn £25k pa. If I can do it, a man worth £100m + certainly can. Where there's a will.......sadly, there doesn't seem to be one with Rupp. I'm not sure these NFT WAGMI Yanks were the answer. I also know Rupp isn't either based on the last 5 year's lived experiences. If I'd been swanning around various EFL hospitality suites for the last few years whilst others scrape together what they can to watch City, I'd show a bit more humility. Then again, I'm not a businessman.....

 

Good on Rupp threatening to sue these charlatan's. This along with the report in the Athletic should tell people who are liars now. Whatever people may think about Rupp he's saved us from a group that can't be trusted

Bottom line is, Stefan is a very rich man and the owner of our club. If he is serious about elevating us into higher leagues he must invest more money into the cause than he has hitherto done. Starting in the January window.

If Rupp, who for the last 5 years has seen us decline CONSTANTLY, who is everything his loyalists projected WAGMI to be, faced the same level of criticism and contempt that was given to WAGMI, he'd have fecked off and we'd be in a far better position now. It's just a complete mystery to me that some people will say "well we could be Bury and he covered the debt Edin built", watch the Carlisle game and be mad that we're shit, then actually expect some sort of investment in January when it's fairly obvious we're going to sign a load of crap like every other window. It's time to boycott games and ANYTHING that makes him owning us worthwhile.

And in the almost inevitable event they aren't footballing experts, at least smart enough to realise they need footballing experts to guide them.

In that regard, I'm not convinced they would run the club the same as Stefan, who has been convinced he doesn't need to put time OR effort into the club.

 

It probably goes back to Rahic who will have convinced him the best thing for him was to be a sleeping partner and nothing more than an investor, since then we’re probably nothing more than a small part of his portfolio that he one days expects to make a return on which just shows his lack of knowledge of the sector.

Look at Dale Vince at Forest Green, that’s where having an owner with a vision and being a leader can get you. Well above where you’d expect them to be and according to Sparks have a smaller budget than us.

Sorry but in 21st Century football you’ll never convince me the owner doesn’t have an important part to play and that’s not just throwing money blindly at it, especially in the lower leagues where you can afford less experts than those at the top.

 

Rupp is damaged goods now, 4 years of absolute failure have left him with nowhere to go. Unfortunately it looks like we are stuck with him because he's the root cause of most of the anger that's been here long term. If and a big IF he did sell up that source of anger disapates to nothing. Its hard to fully express how badly we need a new owner at Valley Parade, it's literally killing the club.

 

I view Mark Hughes "arrival" as the "advance party". Hughes is a seriously well connected football man. If there is not someone in the background eyeing proceedings at VP I would be very suprised. Mark Hughes has single handedly put Bradford Ciry AFC back on the "football map".

 

I'm sure I read he'd applied for jobs throughout his time out and for most he wasn't even getting replies. I think he applied for the Peterborough job before McCann got it. We also need to stop thinking this idea that he's somehow doing us a favour being here. He has an excellent pedigree but he applied to us for a vacant role, we weren't chasing him like a love sick puppy. We need to be realistic, this is still the same Bradford City that has struggled for 5 years, albeit with a higher calibre of manager. Wether a change of management alone can change around this sinking ship remains to be seen. I have faith in the way Hughes wants to play but it boils down how much of that style can be accomplished by a squad a league 2 standard players. If there is an influx of better quality players I'd say yes, if not then no.

 

I watched this the other week and thought the owner came across really well. Certainly doesn't seem a nutjob as some would have you believe. Seems very well educated and clued about what he is trying to achieve.

 

Some think we're much better off with a guy who doesn't give a toss than a guy trying new things.

Who can blame them though when the guy who doesn't give a toss leaves the club to be run by someone with no history of success in any position?

Seems solid to me.
