Many would say Man Utd are bigger than City, and that City are a small club with a rich owner.

Some would argue City are clearly bigger with a tremendous infrastructure that eclipses United's.

But i doubt anyone would say City are bigger because they're currently more successful and have been for a few years because history ain't in their side is it.

I said we were a big club at this level. Apart from Bolton, surely you cannot argue against that?

Big club at this level based on a decent history, far bigger fan base than any other club, again apart from Bolton. I know you might argue about cheap ticketss, but come on, no other club apart from maybe Bolton would get anywhere near 14000-19000 season ticket holders, whatever the prices.

Far bigger potential than the likes of say Cheltenham:, Cambridge and Morecambe will ever have.

When every away commentary team was talking about how strange it was that Bradford were playing in League 2 I think that says it all.

For me, it's a perception - do fans see us as big or not?

    Yes, yes they do.

Also, if you found ten women called Margaret and asked them which football team they thought was the most famous out of Bradford City, Crawley Town and Fleetwood Town, I'm pretty sure they'd also say Bradford.

For me I think its more of having potential than being described as a "big club".

GR obviously saw the potential after we went to Wembley V Notts County and took action.

That was a great day out with over 30,000 city fans there.

We may not have had a redeveloped stadium if we had not gone to Wembley. But we did and we did.

I believe Stuarts second time back at Valley Parade he had Black and Fitness and Conditioning Coach Robert Lossau, 50, and Goalkeeping Coach Steve Banks.

Success isn't defined by a big stadium built by an ex chairman and big sales of cheap giv away season tickets. I'm interested to what people percieve a big club to be. I guess some of our fan base would see us as a bigger club than say Burton, Fleetwood or Peterborough but all seem to do just as well as us or a lot better in the case of Peterborough. But by the logic of some we are a bigger club than Peterborough, due to Geoffs crazy building splurge. Even MacAnthony thinks we're a big club and its the only time i disagree with him. If we are such a big club we should walk this division next season in what looks like a terrible quality division.

I'm not saying being a so called big club at any particular level guarantees success, you only have to look at Sunderland playing the likes of Accrington and Rochdale last couple of years, however surely that perception should attract players or managers over other clubs at the same level.

My point in all this, and I agree with Fordy on this, we should be targeting managers who are doing well at other so called smaller clubs.

Double edged sword in a way, I'm sure a few players feel more comfortable playing at 'smaller' clubs, and I'm sure some managers like the control a smaller club gives them rather than trying to operate a juggernaut filled with fans expecting instant success.

If we fans believe we are such a big club, it makes me wonder why for most years in the past 40, we have been languishing in the lower leagues rather than having become an established Championship or even higher club.

The reality is that despite what most fans might believe, City is firmly established in the lower leagues. Bradford is the largest metropolitan area in the UK without one or even two Championship level clubs. City may therefore have the potential to become established higher up the pyramid. But it hasn't. It has failed miserably over the years to achieve that potential.

Its money that attracts them. You might get the odd one thats maybe homesick or has an affinity with the club but look at Ian Henderson for example. Apparently we had made an enquiry for him but as soon as Salford come a knocking its game over. I do agree that Bradford City should be targeting a manager that will get us out of this division next season. But if we are talking Derek Adams, what would make him come here? We're cutting the budget from this year to next and he himself will want a decent salary.

By the analogy some churn out we have more potential than Burnley. We're a bigger City than them. But then potential doesn't work on postcodes.

Yeah but how many clubs can't even lay claim to being an established league club, let alone one further up the pyramid?

    Crawley.
    Fleetwood.
    MK Dons/AFC Wimbledon.
    Doncaster.
    Burton.
    Morecambe.
    Newport.
    FGR.
    Salford.
    Leyton Orient.
    Stevenage.
    Harrogate.
    Mansfield.
    Barrow.
    Grimsby.

Contrast our very short PL stint with Oxford, Tranmere and Cambridge's all entering non league.

I get that people want to say Bradford City isn't big from a historic sense, but whether or not we're a 'big' lower league club is relative and you can't tell me (m)any of those clubs are bigger than us or even close to being the same size.

To say we AREN'T a big lower league club is an error because these lower league clubs are minnows.

Actually, when you look at the L2 table and see Bradford CITY then you realise our club is the worst football City in the EFL.
Salford have far more ambition and backing than us and Exeter are trying to get into the playoffs.
All the other teams are various towns in L2.
There is a marketing ploy for Sparks to make some money, linking our textile heritage print off some hoodies and mugs-

And yet most of those are above us, over half of them haven't even been in the football that long and have gained promotion from the national league. most of these so called minnows have better players. I get people saying Bolton are a big club, this is only their second season ever in the bottom division and under Allardyce finshed top half prem for a number of years.
We may have a big stadium and a large number of giveaway season tickets but unless a knight in shing armour comes along Gary Neville style then we are just another average league 2 side.

I think we have answered the Derek Adams question between us. Charm him, convince him of the potential here, and offer him an attractive package to seal a deal.

Mark Lawn did his best selling and charm offensive on Parky prior to him agreeing to come here. Parky turned out to be such a brilliant fit for the club.

I know I keep banging on about Adams, but I just have a gut feeling he would do the same here as Parky did

They are minnows. I couldn't describe them better. And we are swimming with them in their very own minnow pond. In fact some of these have outgrown the minnows and are now in a slightly bigger pond. Meanwhile we struggle against the remaining other minnows, some of which have intentions of growing bigger.
