I’ve defended our managers having accrued 45 points and repaired the McCall mess, but very disappointed in them for going against their own beliefs and using 4-4-2. It’s an outdated system that gets you overwhelmed in midfield and unfortunately they bowed to the fan pressure of populism.

It's not a conspiracy Grumps, Sparks openly admitted yesterday Rowe wants to play football, not be a bench warmer and that's why he wanted out.

If I was a 32 year old striker I would jump at a 3 year deal offered by Chesterfield. Approaching your last year at City you have to look at your future.

Could they sit down together and have an honest assessment of where they are, and what they have achieved with regards their original brief keeping the club up, but more so having done that why have they been unable to keep the momentum going.
Do they believe in their own ability to get the club promotion next season because as you say that has to be the target next season.
Fans are very demanding, when things were going well they rightly recieved the plaudits but recently it would have been very difficult for them to face home crowds with the stuff dished up by the very same players that would be a new experience for them both.
So could it be Mark & Conor who make the call with regards their futures, because if they fail next season then IMO it will be back to youth development.

Absolutely Petrov, but reading Fordy rubbish you’d think all was wrong at City and we are a joke of a club. He left because he wasn’t guaranteed a game and he gets a 3 year deal at Chesterfield. He did his bit for us, wanted to leave so goodbye Danny, we move on.

Play offs had gone so worth having a look at it. Since T&S have taken the reins they have had little time to work on things with 2 matches every week. We should be looking at bringing in the right players for the system we play (Rowe was a mistake) and we need a lot of work on set pieces we get absolutely nothing from them

He joined in Jan saying he had choices but Bradford City was the club for him etc.

3 months later he isn't wanting to fight for his place and join a non league club. Come on. He got here and didn't rate the mangers in my mind and i can't blame him for that.

You're correct Rowe realised he was not going to be a regular starter and at 30+ thought this off the bench (although not recently) was not what he signed for when he came to Valley Parade and can we blame him.
I know i'ts just going over old ground but just how did the people dealing with his transfer sell the club to him, because they should have known his back ground both football wise and as a player at his various clubs in the past, was he a maverick with a bad attitude, as fans we'll never know but the guys who's job it was to sign him should have know.

I suspect it may have been more a case of noises from higher in the club.... the club DO keep an eye on these forums and will be aware of the growing disenchantment on playing style. It does indicate a level of weakness though, and that might erode their credibility with the players. In my opinion, players abdicate responsibility for performance too often- they'll look elsewhere before they look at themselves. Id be surprised if - given our form, at some point, the recesses of the changing room haven't started to question the inexperience of the managers.

Far too many of this lot need to go. Very few, of any of the summer contracts who are up, should be renewed. Even the likes of AoC and Wood can go.

And on the subject of credibility as managers and players taking responsibility, that performance yesterday was a group of players who didn't show anywhere near enough desire to do the ugly stuff.

I agree and until very recently, I was saying I'd be happy if both of them stayed. I'm not holding either of them personally responsible for the way this season has turned out but their time at the club is associated with one thing only and that thing is failure. If they stay and we fail again next season, there will be plenty wanting to lay the blame at their feet, so best for all concerned if they move on.

DD869773-C022-4401-8CED-CEF539577F60.png Just a reminder of the job T&S have done and is the reason why they should definitely be here next year. Even after one or two bad results we would still have been in a play off spot

Most of this squad is more than capable of doing a job in league 2, just not with this squad. NKP and Kelvin Mellor have shown that with the right players around and the right philosophy from the manager then you can quite easily be a success. Truth is there is little between all the sides in this division, its all about getting the right synergy between the players. It's why the 4-2-3-1 worked for us, the players we had fit to it better than other formations. Forget plan B, C or D, concentrate on getting plan A right. If Trueman believes in 4-2-3-1 then he should stick with that and target better players than we currently have to affect better use of the system.

And we changed to 4-4-2 and guess what? That didn't work. This idea we can just change from something that was working to something that worked 8 years ago is wonderfully naive as is the idea that we can just 'take the handbrake off' and our team will magically start attacking like a lower league Man City. Football doesn't work like that. Even in the hey days of Parky that fans yearn back to we were hardly a massive attacking threat. We were first and foremost a dour set up that relied on the precocious talent of Nahki Wells and a defence that knew how to defend as a back 6 with Jones and Doyle included.

They have done a brilliant job mate, I don't think there is any criticism with regards where we were and where we are now, the concerns are can they take us to the next level as we've seen that when we get (one or two bad results;)) they seem unable to pull it around, and for me that's a worry going into a new 2021/22 season, I don't think its unreasonable for fans to ask these sort of questions.

    and your point is?

Why does this make them suitable for us next season?

Why does it make them the best people to take us up automatically?

Think you fully understand why they need to go but now just on this defensive mindset trip of your point.

We are value the work they have done but they play boring football af now out of their depth.

    Time to go.

I hope we aren't the only ones asking the questions and like you mentioned earlier, now is the time for Ryan to sit down with them both for an honest assessment and appraisal. Autos have to be the target next season - do they think they are up to the job, have they the confidence that they can deliver it and if so, how are they going to do it? Are the players that are still going to be here next year behind them or have they lost the dressing room? Have they targeted the players we need to get us out of this league and are they confident of landing them? These are all legitimate and important questions and asking them takes nothing away from the job they have done this season, so I'm not sure why some are so scared of asking them.

Every single team we have had promoted in my lifetime of 57 years, has done it playing 442. Simple, effective football that played on the front foot is attacking and when defence is required gives two banks of four. The most dimple effective way to play lower league football.

A massive marker in their ability and skill to set up a team will be Andy Cook. If we want him, and frankly why wouldn't we, and he turns us down then the marker is simple. A proven goalscorer who has no confidence in the managers to set up a winning team.
