Summer 2023 Transfer Rumours

I think Williams would have been a great signing for us and now for Gillingham. But the worst part about it the deal was verbally agreed a month ago for our key signing this summer and at this stage it’s going to be difficult to find an alternative with the same attributes. The job has been made harder

 

Probably would have gone through without that Sun article mind.

His recent injury record is good so no sour grapes from me he is a big miss

I know it happens. It has happened to me with a new employee reneging at the last minute. Doesn't make it any les f~cking annoying

 

Not if you don't have to though which I think is the point here. If you're offered the same money and can stay relatively close to where you'd like to be then there aren't many making the move.

Sounds like Grimsby are signing Abo Eisa. They will be hoping they get the Scunny version and not our version

 

An issue was we were playing catch up due to the playoffs, so while there are plenty more fish in the sea and the season feels a long way off realistically you want your key targets in early doors. It feels like our rivals have cogs turning at the minute so we need to act fast in a competitive market, as well as needing to strengthen our midfield we also need to replace Banks as well which will cost. The division already looks much tougher next season without looking out on number one targets.

One thing that springs to mind about the Williams saga is that we are prepared to pay a decent wage for a quality player if we were offering a significant improvement on his Swindon salary. Unfortunately we are still going to get blown out of the water by Gills and Hollywood FC

 

that's then the opportunity to say he has already agreed to sign for Bradford, assuming he had actually given us some sort of agreement he would sign.

Not to worry though, we don't need a turncoat.

Blown out of the water? I didn’t realise that what we had offered and what Gillingham had offered was common knowledge?

 

Let's hope nobody else's head is turned. Can we be positive? What will turn
it around this window and let us fans say it has been a successful summer?

Hughes and remaining players really learning their lessons, the Board/ Owner stumping up and openly saying not happy with the existing "self-sustaining model" of safe self perpetrating L2 mediocrity.

But who are we to really criticise, only £6 a home game and 13K plus fans make it all worth while. Surely?

 

If he's already based in Kent and had the opportunity to sign for a Kent club who are clearly aiming high this season then it was surely a no brainer for him. Presumably he'd never have verbally agreed to join us if Gillingham had made their offer earlier.

 

He's only 29?

 

It’s the city way to sign players for 3 years, pay them sick pay throughout and then they move on.
