Yeah, we've nearly signed him again. Get out the bunting.

I'm more trying to guess the level of signing we might make, but I'll be very happy if we move on from casting our net exclusively at 23/24 year olds who might do well, and more towards quality, proven additions of a good age.

However, I suspect we might get a mixture of both!

Only 4 goals last season, sorry, not really good enough that is it?

But people think 1 assist and 1 goal all season from Gilliead is? Amazing that.

No, meant to be a midfielder who is meant to assist and score goals also.

Judging by some of Sparks comments we are targeting 26 to 29 year olds so that narrows the field a bit

We don't seem to have a strategy yet of bringing young players through the academy levels or similar. The age you allude to of 23/24 can see a good chunk of higher level trainees who have low miles on the clock due to limited opportunities and they can be a good source of untapped talent.Because for all the talk of better budget through higher ticket and merchandise sales nothing can touch the benefit to the finances of a decent transfer fee (see Oli McBurnie).

The young striker lad Youmbi (I think!) seems to be a good prospect. Hoping to see him getting a chance sometime.

Chances are if he is any good we will usually cash in on him before he even knows where the bench is ....

Sadly that may be the case Tony. It would be good though to see some of our young players coming through at some point.

They may not be making the first team but they are making us money to bring others in

But the ones we bring in are not taking us forward.

Maybe, the club should start rethinking its strategy but it won’t because our owner is shite!

You make a valid point about the quality of recent recruits but then ruin it by attaching the blame to the wrong person and expressing it in derogatory terms. Who we brought in last summer and in January were footballing decisions not strategic decisions. If you want to go around challenging why we brought in Young or Harratt or Odusina or Nevers or Bola, do so by all means but point the finger at those who made the decision to recruit them.

    That's encouraging.

Wonder if we'll swoop for Lloyd Isgrove? Wales international, has promotion experience with Bolton, bit of a fan favourite there.

Ben Heneghan of Sheffield Wednesday would be a tremendous signing if he's over his injury from last season. Story seems a little bit similar to Stubbs, and Hughes has shown he can manage players through their recovery.

Interestingly, Heneghan has been released but will link up with Wednesday again in pre-season to complete his recovery from injury, apparently.

League One quality defender, 6'3, can also play right back, right-sided so would slot alongside Stubbs nicely. 29 years old.

Guess whoever signs Heneghan will have to do so pretty late in the Summer window, though.

No, the point is we have to sell the young talent because our owner isn’t funding the club. If he was then the young talent would have time to break through here.

Other clubs operate better than us and have been promoted because of it.

We have to always look to sell quickly because Rupp doesn’t back us. That simple really. All fingers point to him. Shite!

You appear to have forgotten that you were accusing the club of making poor decisions on recruitment!

Just remind me, which products of our Academy have we sold since Rupp bought us 7 years ago?

I can think of only two (one to Leeds and one to a Southern club) but the one who made the big money - McBurnie- left during Parky's time.

    To be fair there's at least one from each of the last two summers;

    2021 https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportlatest/19444123.bradford-city-not-surprised-ombangs-move-leeds/

    2022
    https://www.thetelegraphandargus.co.uk/sport/sportlatest/20177339.bradford-city-teenager-bashir-signed-brighton/

But that's how most teams work at this level. Can think of Ollie Watkins from Exeter even through to ones years ago when even as a Championship club Sheff Utd sold Kyles Walker and Naughton to Spurs. Way of the world!

Pulling up in the car park, with Billy Sharp navigating and Kieran Agard asleep in the back.
